Want to have a meaningful summer for your kids? Why not avail of GATEWAY GALLERY’s Artsy Summer Workshop for 2017? The Artsy Summer Workshop is now on its 3rd year and offered by Gateway Gallery, the art museum of Araneta Center. The museum is the latest go-to destination for students and people alike especially with their interactive Philippine history images on display.

The summer workshop will have two courses namely the Drawing and Painting and the Craft Workshop which will be under the supervision of professional artists and crafts people.

It will be available and open to children and teens from 7 to 19 years old and will be held on the following dates: April 29, May 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 2 to 5 pm at the Gateway Gallery. The fee for each workshop is Php 6,000 and is inclusive of most of the materials. An exhibit of the works of the kids and teens will follow the culmination of the art workshops.

The Drawing and Painting Workshop is a beginners’ class where students will be taught the basic principles of drawing. They will also be mentored on the proper use of oil pastels and watercolor, and the techniques needed to achieve a decent to excellent three dimensional rendering of forms. They will also receive useful tips from the master artists who will be teaching them. The teachers are Grandier Bella (drawing, oil pastel) and Julius Legaspi (watercolor medium), exhibiting artists who are also experienced teachers.

The Craft Workshop will be facilitated by Karaw Craft Ventures, a crafts house in Bicol that promotes sustainability and community livelihood. The people of Karaw will teach the students on the discipline of creating three-dimensional works such as paper cut, macramé dreamcatcher, plush toys, string art and wood chip hook racks. All these beautiful crafts will engage the students in a fun way and challenge their design skills. All the materials for the Craft Workshop are included in the workshop fee.

So get ready and be artistic and creative this summer. You might be the next artist we’re looking for.
