Adventures of a Diva Princess

Financially speaking, many Filipinos are still wary when it comes to investing or buying insurance. They would rather put their savings either in bank or hidden somewhere in their homes. The idea of taking insurance or investing is something of a scheme for them. Also, many of them are still unbanked despite the passing of financial inclusion aimed to specifically helped them.

Financial institutions are mainly focused on this sector of our society. Take Sun Life for example. Recently, Sun Life, thru its SOLAR (Study of Lifestyle and Relationships) reveals that only 38% of Filipinos are willing to take investment risks in order to earn more and that only 8% actually invest.  Furthermore, only 16% claim to have life insurance despite 88% of Filipinos worrying about their financial situation in case something happens to the breadwinner.

What is it about the word “investment” or “insurance” makes it a scary topic for them. The study made it clear that Filipinos are aware how this could be a big help for them, and yet. May be because they haven’t met someone who can make them believe that they can now take charge of their hard-earned money.

Just like in a love relationship, each of us have a perfect match where we can make a relationship bloom for a long time. Financial-wise, someone is out there willing to establish a relationship with you where you can be guided or advice on to achieve lifetime financial security.

In every relationship, we have a set criteria or roles to fulfil for a perfect relationship, something of a brilliant match. Now that we are ready and set to achieve financial security, there is none other than Sun Life who can make us achieve this goal thru their Sun Life Financial Advisor.

Just In time to celebrate the Financial Independence Month of June, Sun Life puts the spotlight on the value of meeting a trusted financial partner via the #SunLifePerfectMatch campaign.

For so many years now, the country’s first and the #1 life insurer aims to educate Filipinos on choosing the right Financial Advisor to help them with their financial goals. With its new Advisor Match tool, your perfect Sun Life advisor who will help you achieve financial security may just be a click away.

HOW DOES ADVISOR MATCH WORK?

Thru the Sun Life website, access Advisor Match. Enter your location to generate a list of advisors in your vicinity. Each profile contains a short description of their credentials and how they can extend help – a very nifty way to show you what they have to offer. Such freedom to choose a Financial Advisor is both innovative and relevant, especially for consumers who want personalized service on-demand and at their convenience.

MAKE YOUR BRIGHTER CHOICE!

More than a handy online tool, Advisor Match is about empowering Filipinos to be more exacting and selective when looking for a financial partner.

As shown during the official launch of Advisor Match, a series of online videos called “My Dream Advisor” puts a humorous twist on the challenging journey that comes with seeking one’s perfect advisor match. Taking a cue from the 90s dating game shows, the videos feature searchers faced with a rather disappointing line-up of advisor searchees – each embodying undesirable characteristic that have unfairly stereotyped life insurance agents for the longest time.

So, what do you think are the values need to possess by your Sun Life Financial Advisor? Every financial advisor should possess: (1) professional in doing business; (2) one who cares for your welfare; (3) a desire to win for your dreams; and (4) an inspiring commitment to serve rather than sell.

These are the values that define Sun Life’s over 11,000 financial advisors. As affirmed by Sun Life Philippines Chief Marketing Officer Ms. Myle Lopa, “We’ve seen a growing interest in personal finance lately with the number of inquiries and requests for advisor referrals doubling the past couple of years.  We are happy to share that we are now empowering Filipinos to choose their very own Sun Life Advisor with just the click of a button. With Sun Life’s Advisor Match, they can be assured of finding competent and committed financial advisors to help them achieve their financial goals.”

Finding your #SunLifePerfectMatch should never be difficult. Just go to advisormatch.sunlife.com.ph to experience the Advisor Match tool and learn more about finding the right partner in your financial journey.

A charity category called Bid2Bike will encourage the fans of Piolo Pascual, Matteo Guidicelli, Inigo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, and other Star Magic celebrities, to bid for a chance to bike alongside their idols, an exclusive photo souvenir, and have their jersey signed. For cycling enthusiasts, they can bid to ride with legend Robbie McEwen

On January 20, 2018, the Sun Life Resolution Run will take place. As with the previous years, Sun Life will once again mount the event with Run Rio and will offer 3k, 5k, and 10k categories. It features an obstacle course that illustrates the steps to prevent diabetes, like watching what you eat and why exercise is important. For those who are interested, more details will be revealed in the coming months such as the addition of an expanded payment facility like PayPal and DragonPay.

So are you Interested to do the Sunpiology Duo events? All you have to do is sign up for Sun Life CyclePH @BGC and get P100 off Sun Life Resolution Run registration fees. Registration for both races is now open at www.sunpiology.com.

Promoting physical fitness, supporting worthwhile causes, Sunpiology Duo will likewise retain its charitable components, where it will continue to raise funds for the different causes it has been supporting for the past seven years. These include the education of scholars from Hebreo 12:1 Foundation and Star Magic’s chosen charities.

As in previous Sun Life’s activities, the Sunpiology Duo will be another star-studded events led by Star Magic celebrities, as well as ambassadors of Sun Life’s wellness community GoWell.

The Sunpiology list of sponsors are also growing every year, staring with the following partners for Sun Life Cycleph @BGC: F2P, Powerade, Rudy Project, Cignal, Philippine Star, 2Go, Alcopllus, and Garmin.

“With Sunpiology Duo, we can now cater to even more Filipinos who are eager to get a boost in their fitness journey and contribute to worthwhile causes while at it,” Lopa said. “It’s surely going to be an exciting event. We look forward to seeing our Sunpiology regulars, and we’re also eager to welcome those who will be joining us for the first time.”

Each film will also come with an explainer video, where Sun Life brand ambassadors Matteo Guidicelli, Judy Ann Santos, and Piolo Pascual will share their thoughts and shed light on how insurance and investments enable us to protect the relationships that matter to us.

One of my bucket lists is to go on a date with Piolo Pascual, why not? If given the chance I will grab it even if we just have a date online. I think this may just happen with Sun Life latest promo. Sun Life Financial recently announced its latest promo dubbed “Coffee with Piolo” where Facebook users can go on a virtual coffee date with brand ambassador Piolo Pascual, and even win a trip to Dubai while at it. Not bad, right?

To join, users simply log on to Facebook, visit Sun Life’s Facebook page (SunLifePH), and click on the “Coffee with Piolo” app. After entering the required details, the user should click “Submit” to generate a personalized “Coffee with Piolo” video.

“Each ‘Coffee with Piolo’ video bears a message specifically tailored to the user’s financial needs. We’re very excited about this because it allows us to communicate with our clients in a digital manner, without losing the personal touch that is part of the Sun Life brand of service,” said Sun life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa.

After generating the video, the user may share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to qualify for the raffle, where 20 Sun Life Prosperity Cards worth Php 5,000 each and a trip for two to Dubai are up for grabs.

“This is just one example of how Sun Life always strives to be creative in the way it communicates the importance of having money for every stage of their life to ensure financial security. We hope that this will inspire more Filipinos assess their financial goals,” Lopa said. “At the same time, we wish to remind them that this is a journey they need not pursue alone. Sun Life is here to guide them every step of the way.”

When I was in third year of high school my father started getting sick. I saw how my mother struggled with our family budget as portion of my father’s salary went to his medications. There were times we really have to make both ends meet but my mother has become a pro in budgeting and managing our household expenses.

It was also during that time that I started accepting term papers work from my classmates so that I won’t ask for my school allowance anymore. I did that until I graduated from Highschool and it was during that time I realized how important managing your expenses was as I budget my allowance so that I do not add to our household burden. Thankfully my father recovered and the years after that were financially good.

But somehow during my twenties when I started working and earning, and become financially independent from my parents, I forgot how to manage my expenses as I began tarvelling and spending on things which I now realized is a waste of money. It’s a good thing I caught on early and I matured financially.

I’m sure many of us have been in this quandary before and some still suffering from mismanagement of expenses. And as listened to Mr. Aya Laraya during his Planning and Management Workshop at the Brighter Life Institute, he said that all is not lost as we can begin again in planning and managing our expenses.

Photo Grab: Lariza
Start little by listing your daily expenses. Where your money goes, how much did you spend? Then start to budget. You can only do so if you know where your money is going.

As you go on with your life, you can start to plan and think about other things. As you grow older you will encounter added expenses such as food, education, insurance and other living expenses. What about retirement? You need to plan it well also. You need to think about investment during these times too. Investment need not involve large amount. Sunlife Phils can offer you investment for as low as 5 thousand pesos and the payback is good.  And although I don’t want to be morbid here, you also have to think of funeral expenses.

These are the things we need to plan and manage as we go on with our life. Shouldn’t you live your life well, especially as you grow older?

To know more about investments from Sunlife, visit www.sunlife.com.ph or inquire and talk to a Finacial Advisor at 5558888.

Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) Inc. marks the month of June, Financial Independence Month with Health and Wealth Campaign

In today's global economic uncertainty, it.s never been more relevant for Filipino consumers to understand how to prioritize their financial preparedness options and this is where Sun Life, the country's longest standing life insurance company as they declare June as Financial Independent Month, urges Filipinos to employ more appropriate ways of preparing financially for their health needs as well as other needs.

This concern was brought about as results from their SWS-commissioned survey showed that Filipinos claim to be prepared to fund expensive purchases, despite having health-related concerns. What is more alarming is that 1 of 2 Filipinos are planning to make expensive purchases such as land or car within the next two years and that 9 out of 10 are actually prepared to fund it.
But at the same time Filipinos are worried by these uncertainties; death of bread-winner, family members suffering a grave illness, and inability to pay huge medical bills. Concerning health-related worries, 9 out of 10 of the respondents are financially prepared in the event of a grave illness in the family.

The question is up to what cost?

Sun Life President and CEO Riza Mantaring said that "there seemed to be a disconnect between the Filipinos, priorities and concerns and the way they are financially prepared for this. They are worried about their health and possible illness but they do not prepare financially." She further emphasized that "we need to remember that health and wealth go hand in hand and we need to make sure that the right products can be availed to prepare for both wealth goals and health needs. Thus every Juan can be more fit to live free."

This is where Sun Life gears up to help every Juan as they prepare various activities to celebrate Financial Independent Month.

Financial Independence Month activities

In order to address the situation and help Filipinos act on their financial concerns, Sun Life is launching the #FIT2LiveFree campaign this Financial Independence Month. After all, Sun Life is here to empower Filipinos so they can truly enjoy a life that’s free from financial worries.

To inspire them to take care of both their wealth and health in a fun and interactive way, Sun Life will make available digital content to engage the public. Those who would like to determine their money mannerisms can take the Moneyrism Quiz on Facebook, while those who would like to share their fitness journey can join the conversation on Instagram with the hashtag #WellnessWednesday. By engaging with fellow wealth and health enthusiasts online, they get the chance to win minor prizes of FitBit wireless activity wristbands and a grand prize of a travel package to Seoul, South Korea.

For those wanting to go on an in-depth learning of personal finance, modular lessons will be offered online in the Brighter Life Institute. Its initial offering is a five-module lesson for those starting their financial journey. This can be accessed at brighterlife.com.ph, where relevant articles are also shared regularly. The Brighter Life Institute is another pioneering financial literacy effort of Sun Life to reach out to more people online.
