Anthony Bourdain back in the Philippines? Yes, it’s happening as the renowned celebrity chef and raconteur will lead the roster of speakers in Asia’s biggest network event on heritage and street food culture, the World’s Street Food Congress (WSFC) 2017 happening on 31 May- 04 June 2017 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

The celebrity chef will be sharing ideas and opportunities, as well as seek potential partners and hawkers for his next big project, the upcoming Bourdain Market in New York as part of WSFC’s Food Dialogue,

Joining Bourdain are other local and international culinary experts including the Vice-president of strategic initiatives and industry leadership at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Greg Drescher and head chef and owner of the first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant, Candlenut, Malcolm Lee. The country’s very own food maven, Chef Claude Tayag as well as Chef Sau Del Rosario, proud owner of the popular modern Kapampangan café, Café Fleur, will also be present.

Organized by K.F. Seetoh of Makansutra and presented by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the two-day Food Dialogue-Hackathon is one of the three main highlights of WSFC 2017. It provides a venue for industry players, individuals and companies to come together and discuss, share, ideate and collaborate on the culture of heritage and comfort street food. WSFC’s other two components are: the World Street Food Jamboree and the World Street Food Awards where everyone can celebrate and enjoy the world’s most popular food culture – comfort street food.

Now on its fourth year, WSFC just keeps getting bigger and better. By hosting the event in Manila for the second time, it aims to attract more global attention. It also promotes the Philippines as one of the most dynamic and growing gastro cities in Asia not only in street food but also in its wide offering of local cuisines.
