Fashion without Boundaries: SM Celebrate Denim with a Purpose
Students with Down syndrome and Autism
fearlessly walked the runway during the recent denim fashion show at SM City
San Jose del Monte showcasing their favorite denim clothes.
While the fashion world tends to give us
certain definition of a perfect model which is tall, slim and abled women, SM
City San Jose del Monte organized an event where they could celebrate denim
month meaningfully with people with Down syndrome and autism and twist the idea
of a perfect runway model.
Dubbed as “Denim with a Purpose” students from
Happy Child Academy in San Jose del Monte were invited and willingly
participated to showcase their ability to rock the runway at the mall atrium in
front of their classmates, teachers, parents as well as shoppers and mall
goers. They were taught, styled, and accompanied by aspiring models from a
modeling agency who are also from the city.
Graceful walks, charming turns, and infectious
smiles wows the audience as they confidently slay their favorite denim outfit
during the show.
“It is refreshing to see the participants
filled the mall’s atmosphere with warmth and positive energy because they
themselves enthusiastically raised awareness to diversity and equality” shares
SM City San Jose del Monte Mall Manager Mr. Jose Mari Emmanuel Correa. “It is a
pleasure for us to share our mall events with them and make it more meaningful”
Mr. Correa added.
Moreover, as an additional token, SM treated
some of them with their chosen denim at The SM Store while the others were
given the chance to wear the newly designed and personalized denim made the day
before the fashion show by the group of artistic students from FCPC
Filustrados, also from the city.
Invite your friends and family and continuously
celebrate everything with denim. Enjoy this month-long celebration at SM City
San Jose del Monte, SM City Marilao, and SM City Baliwag with up to 70% off on
denim finds from participating stores.
