SM Marikina Food Crawl 2019

by - July 29, 2019

I love going to Marikina for a food trip. I’m telling you, the options and choices for food is worth the traffic and more than that, it's a different kind of satisfaction you get for any of your food cravings. And if you’re a mall foodie like me, there’s no other mall in Marikina like the SM City Marikina where you can have whatever food you’re craving for. Simply saying, the first major shopping center in the city just got it all when it comes to restaurants and fast food joints you can go to before or after shopping or watching a movie or you just want to have a cup of good coffee or a sip of milk tea and what have you’s.

Several days ago, me and my friends went on a food crawl to try out four, out of the many food choices inside the mall. Here’s what we discovered.

CUP POINT: IN-STORE CAFE CONCEPT AT SUNNIES SPECS OPTICAL

If you hate waiting with nothing to do, you need not fear if you’re at Sunnies Specs Optical. Nowadays, the idea of going back for another day just to have your pair of specs is an old thing. In an hour or half of that, Sunnies Specs can give you your new glasses. But as you wait, the smell of coffee can entice you with their in-store cafe concept at Cup Point.

Cup Point is “inspired by the thought of a warm cup while you wait.”

This optical shop in SM Marikina is bright and welcoming and in the corner is a cafe where you can try their “Out of Office” blend while you wait for the new prescription glasses you bought or   may be you're waiting for your friend or family to get their purchases.

The coffee store accent and theme is inspired by the retail spaces that have coffee shops in countries like Korea and Japan according to the staff.

The Cup Point menu includes espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha americano, honey and matcha (hooray for matcha lovers like me!) But wait, there’s more! Included in the menu are milkshakes which have three flavors such as cereal, matcha, and cookies.

Must-try is the Cereal Milkshake made up of milk, cinnamon, vanilla ice cream and of course the frosted cereals. Simply yummy, just prefect for those addicted to sweet things.

IT’S A KOREAN FEAST AT SAMGYEOP MASARAP

Every time I go to Marikina, this Samgyeop Masarap at the third floor of SM Marikina is always beckoning me to visit them but then I’m always press  for time whenever I visit SM Marikina. If you’re an everything Korean fan like me, you’d know that feasting over samgyeopsal requires time to simply enjoy the meal.

Finally, my samgyeopsal-cravings is about to be satisifed at Samgyeop Masarap. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by the staff and led us to our seat.  Seeing our table being filled up with food is kind of exciting as we are one in thinking that for this lunch, we are going to eat masarap na food.

Samgyeop Masarap menu offers a set package with pork, beef as well as chicken, in marinated or not variant. I love the quality of meat they have because it look perfect and fresh for grilling. It is up to you whether to grill it to crispiness or however you want it.

Included in their set menu are refillable side dishes like braised baby potatoes, Korean fish cake, kimchi, stir-fried anchovies, pickled onion and sweet and sour radish salad.

If you want additional korean food for it to be really an authentic Korean feast, you must order their Japchae, Kimbap, Egg roll, Pajeon, Beef Stew and Bibimbap.

What I love the most at Samgyeop Masarap  istheir ssamjang, that paste you put in your wrap with the juicy pork or beef. It’s different from the others I’ve tried because its not that spicy but still has that kick you’re looking for. Quite addicting, actually.

It was a nice and hefty lunch which we all enjoyed. At Samgyeop Masarap, you can enjoy Korean food at its best.

IT’S EGG WAFFLE HEAVEN AT I LOVE BUBBLE WAFFLE

It was a famous and favorite street food in Hong Kong, still is, but that famous Egg Waffle have come to the Philippines in the form of I love Bubble Waffle and in just two years or more, the bubble waffle craze is as crazy as ever.

In the official Facebook page of I Love Bubble Waffle, it is said that this food/dessert concept is inspired from the famous Hongkong Style Egg Waffle, and they promises to deliver tasty and new first in the market flavored egg shaped waffle served with multiple toppings that can be served quickly and is budget friendly.
It was just a humble small shop in SM Baguio nearly three years ago but this successful concept of I love Bubble Waffle by Mr. And Mrs. Ryan and Carmi Garingarao now has over 90 food cart/stalls across the country and its growing more.

Why do you think Pinoy SM-mall goers love I Love Bubble Waffle?

The waffle which is quite addicting alone is made more delicious by making it a popular dessert by adding some twist in it. Imagine adding a scoop of ice cream into it and drizzling it with your choice of syrup and toppings, the result is one delicious I Love Bubble Waffle!

While at the store located in the ground floor of SM Marikina, the place is different from other ILBW cart because there’s a place where you can sit and stay. What more they provide free wifi and there’s a charging socket to boot! The owners wouldn’t mind if you just wait there but I’m telling you you wouldn’t be able to resist their Koko Krunch Waffle, Strawberry Waffle, Blueberry or that Matcha Waffle.

Not only that, they also have Coffee, Classic and get this, a Detox Waffle for those who want to diet. You can eat however much you want of that Detox Waffle.

Also included in the menu is the savory ones like the Ham & Cheese, Bacon S’mores and Strawberry Jams. The Banana Nutella is a MUST-TRY!

A STEAK-FEST AT ROBERTO’S

Amped up your steak cravings at Roberto’s as you dined in one of SM Marikina’s instagrammable dining place.

I love how the ambiance reminds me of Europe with its classy decors and wood accents for its tables and chairs.

After that glorious desserts of bubble waffle, we immediately head right to Roberto’s and have a steak fest.

It was quite awesome when our table was filled with Porter House Steak, Pico de Gallo topped with Grilled Salmon, Peruvian Steak, Salmon Pacifica Brulee, Grilled Chicken Fillet and Grilled Pork Loin.

Must try is the Grilled Chicken Fillet. The chicken is very tender and well-seasoned and have potato wedges on the side. My favorite is the Peruvian Steak which is just awesome.

So if you're craving for a steak, Roberto's is the place at SM Marikina.
