SM MALLS IN BALIWAG AND SJDM JOIN ‘RESBAKUNA KIDS’ PILOT VACCINATION DRIVE
SM City Baliwag and SM City San Jose Del Monte join the nationwide ‘Resbakuna Kids’ pilot vaccination drive as the malls became the official venue for the inoculation of children 5-11 years old recently.
Led by the respective health offices, with support from the local government units, Baliwag and San Jose Del Monte encouraged parents to pre-register their children at the nearest Rural Health Unit (RHU) or respective barangay health centers, as walk-ins at the vaccination sites are not yet allowed.
Children aged 5-11 will receive Pfizer vaccine with a lower dosage and lower concentration than those given to minors aged 12 to 17.
To make vaccination fun for kids, SM City Baliwag transformed the mall vaccination site into a country farm-themed venue, equipped with kid-friendly areas for screening, registration, vaccination, observation and monitoring. The mall also staged balloon twister activities to entertain kids at the venue. There were at least 500 pre-registered children inoculated during the pilot vaccination at SM City Baliwag.
On the other hand, SM City San Jose del Monte turned its vaccination area into a child-friendly, party-like place, decorated with colorful tarpaulins, balloons, and lanterns. On its first day, children were entertained by mascots before they underwent medical checkups and consultations.
“Today is a special milestone, especially for the kids of San Jose del Monte. They have an added layer of protection against the virus, and because of that, malling will be happier and a lot safer for them,” said SM Regional Manager Lea Sta. Ana.
To make kids feel a lot more comfortable while vaccination is ongoing, SM Bulacan malls have partnered with mall tenants for treats and deals they can avail, such as freebies and discount coupons, as well as free play from amusement tenants.
“We are happy to welcome kids here at the mall and be part of their journey as they take a step towards being protected against the COVID 19 virus. As always, we at SM will give our utmost support by keeping our venues open for vaccination drives like this” shares SM City Baliwag Mall Manager Rodora Tolentino.
Prior to this, there were at least 100 children inoculated during the ‘Resbakuna Kids’ pilot vaccination drive at SM City Marilao led by the Municipal Health Office and the LGU last February 14. Meanwhile, minors’ vaccination for 5 to 11 years old is slated at SM Center Pulilan on March 2.
For children with health risks, the guardian/parents are encouraged to secure clearance from their kids’ doctors first before getting them vaccinated. They would also need to bring valid ID cards or documents with photos of their children instead of a birth certificate. Consent forms, assent forms, and health declaration forms will also be made available on site.
