Century Park Hotel (CPH), one of Manila’s finest hotels in Manila, recently held their Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the hotel’s Atrium Lounge.

Century Park Hotel owners Dr. Lucio Tan and wife Carmen Tan led the lighting ceremony of the 30-ft. Christmas tree to the delight of hotel employees, guests, and media friends.

This year, the hotel is showcasing Modern Chinoiserie, a fusion of Eastern and Western elegance that perfectly balances symmetry and style, combining modern and traditional artistry. Pink and blue ornaments infused with gold trimmings were accentuated with Chinese designs, lending a unique Christmas vibe to the hotel. It is also a fitting homage to the hotel’s Chinese roots.

Carolers from the Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. sang Christmas carols to the guests, making the event more festive.

The event was made more memorable with the presence of newly-crowned queens, Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel from Puerto Rico, Miss Earth Fire 2019 Alisa Manyonok from Belarus and Miss Earth Water 2019 Klára Vavrušková from Czech Republic.

Set to light up the premier developer’s Ortigas East estate in Pasig City, the Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel will brighten the holidays for the whole community with an enchanting light display playing alongside well-loved Christmas songs. Christmas in the Philippines is unlike any other Christmas celebration in the whole world. For one, it’s the longest Christmas celebration ever. As early as the “BER” comes in, well-loved Christmas songs start to be played and some even begin to put up small decorations that reflect the yuletide season. Visitors from other countries could only wonder in amazement how locals are able to allot the entire latter third part of the calendar year to celebrating Christmas.

An important part of that, of course, are the gatherings with family and friends. And for this particular season, the highlight will always be the Christmas ham, a tradition King Sue Ham and Sausage Co. Inc. understands very well.

Its founder, Mr. Cu Un Kay, came to Manila from China as a 12-year-old on board a vessel. Even at a young age, he knew the importance of hard work and was employed as a cook by his uncle who owned a cold storage facility in Echague.
