The Philippines’ number one lifestyle e-wallet makes booking salon appointments easy and convenient as it partners with Parlon, the go-to platform for beauty and wellness services.

Through this partnership, beauty and wellness enthusiasts can prepay and book their salon and wellness appointments by simply finding Parlon partners in the “services” category of GLife. Over 20 partner establishments are currently live in GLife with more salons and beauty clinics expected to come in the future. Consequently, this also allows the salons to have their very own app page within GCash—providing more accessible and convenient venues to sell their services and reach at least 60 million registered GCash users.

“We're thrilled to partner with Parlon to provide easy and convenient payment solutions for customers from its partner salons. This way, customers can completely enjoy their me-time, knowing that they've already booked and  paid their salon appointment beforehand,” said Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash.

Global and homegrown salon favorites like Browhaus, Strip, Emphasis Salon, The Smile Bar, Benibana, Azta Urban Salon, O2 Skin Lab, Lay Bare, Vine Aesthetics, Marqed Salon, and The Secret Lounge, are just some of the Parlon partners that are available in GLife.

“The beauty and wellness industry has faced unprecedented challenges for the past two years. In Parlon, our thrust for 2022 is to help our partners accept bookings and payments everywhere. We are honored to have partnered with GCash in playing our part in reviving the economy as we help the country and this beautiful industry bounce back higher,” said Claire Ongcangco, Chief Executive Officer of Parlon.

To get started, users who are inside the GCash app just need to go to the GLife section and find the services category to browse through Parlon’s partner establishments and their respective deals. Once customers have finished selecting deals and services to their carts, they may also choose to book a date for their appointment. Users just need to confirm transactions and the total will be seamlessly charged to their GCash wallet. All these steps are guaranteed to be user-friendly and hassle-free, which is what Parlon and GCash have always been committed to doing.

Aside from having an established presence in GLife, merchants who partner with Parlon are given more digital channels to connect with their customers. Under Parlon, they get to have their own profile and URL where they can showcase their services and pricelist, offer enticing deals, manage bookings, and access other solutions that are all housed at the Merchant Partner Hub in Parlon’s easy-to-use ecosystem.

For more information about Parlon and its partnership with GCash, visit www.parlon.ph and follow Parlon on Facebook and Instagram.

The GCash app is available for free on Google Play or App Store.

GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon was recognized as a Master Innovator for Digital Transformation Innovation during the recent 2nd Annual Mansmith Innovation Awards and Summit. Mansmith and Fielders Inc. is an advocacy-based training and consultancy firm.

Sazon was recognized for helping create innovative digital products and services to improve the lives of Filipinos. Sazon joined other business leaders who were also recognized, namely Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. President Ronald Mascariñas, Cebuana Lhuillier Group of Companies CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, and Converge-ICT Chairman and CEO Dennis Uy.

During the summit, Sazon shared insights on how GCash was able to drive successful innovations by quickly responding to the demands of customers. She attributes GCash’s exponential growth to introducing relevant fintech products driven by the powerful insights from its customers.

“At GCash, we believe in innovation for good, driven by the real needs of our customers. We look to our customers as our guide, our North Star as we push for financial inclusion. Our contributions in the individual lives of our users add up to a snowball effect that creates meaningful waves of impact in the country,” said Sazon.

Meanwhile, in his opening remarks, Mansmith and Fielders Inc. Chairman and Chief Innovation Strategist Josiah Go acknowledged the hard work that comes along with innovating and thriving, especially during difficult times.

“The pathway to innovation is not easy. The path to creating something not just new but also successful and sustainable is no easy task. However, a little difficulty doesn't stop people from innovating. In fact, oftentimes, it becomes a driving force for innovation,” he said.
To address the pain points of the unbanked and underserved Filipinos, GCash introduced breakthrough financial services such as GSave for a savings account, GInvest for easy access to local and global funds for as local as P50, and GInsure for insurance in times of emergencies.

“At GCash, we're changing the mindset that financial services are only for the wealthy by making our digital products more accessible, affordable, and easy to understand,” said Sazon.

Sazon added that GCash wants to help address another concern of unbanked Filipinos – that of having money readily available whenever they need it, especially during emergencies. GCash is helping address this with products such as GCredit, GLoan, and GGives. GCredit has already provided more than 1 million users with accessible credit lines while GLoan, as a quick cash loan, offers affordable and fair rates versus informal lenders. GGives is a buy now, pay later proposition to provide credit to more than 2 percent of the population with accessible installment options.

Aside from these innovations, GCash has also been bringing its services to the grassroots level through microenterprises, which Sazon referred to as the “key to reaching financial inclusion.” which is the company’s vision. With GCash Pera Outlet, sari-sari stores act as hubs for GCash services for their community while helping the small store owners earn extra income and livelihood opportunities.

Sazon also noted that the company has been beefing up its financial literacy campaigns while educating users how GCash services can help them manage their finances and eventually help them achieve financial freedom.

With GCash’s innovative services and innovators like Sazon, GCash is moving closer to achieving its vision of “Finance for All.”

Potential women leaders have been limited because of outdated gender norms and lack of mentoring and support. The visibility of successful female role models for girls and women is vital, particularly in fields that have long been dominated by men, like finance and technology.

In the webinar entitled, “Is VC Funding for Women Founders Getting Any Better?” organized by DealStreetAsia, a Singapore-based financial news website, women leaders shared their insights on the gender disparity in venture capital (VC) funding and how women are capable of building their startups and becoming a leader. Among the panelists was GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon who shared the importance of visual role modeling in order to address the issue of a lack of female leaders.

“Leading by example is important. Women founders need to be shown more to people,” said Sazon.

Although finance and technology companies are mainly dominated by men and making it in these industries may seem intimidating to women, Sazon helped millions of Filipinos during the pandemic through the top fintech company, GCash. The Philippines’ leading mobile wallet company currently has 2.5 million merchants and a 46 million subscriber base, which is equivalent to more than 40 percent of the population having a GCash account. When Sazon was just starting her career at Globe, the top telecommunications company in the Philippines, she said it was initially dominated by men but now, women leaders have also emerged in the company.

“We're opening up not just the tech industry but the fintech industry as well to women. Fintech is a good industry for women to thrive because women are naturally good decision makers and problem fixers,” said Sazon. “We have to create more ‘I want to be like her moments.’ Someone just has to pave the way for it,” she added.

In order to have more women leaders, Sazon said that mentoring should start at a young age. She said it’s vital to guide women in high school about the right college course to take, the job that’s a good fit for them, and the right skill set in starting a business. “Young girls should be given more visual cues. As we provide them these visual cues and mentoring, we should be there to continuously guide them,” she said.

She added, “We need to be shown to more people so we get to a point that we are ‘ordinary,’ that it becomes a normal thing for women to become successful with their decisions.”

Sazon said that encouraging more women to lead could be as easy as creating chat groups for women or building an organization to support them. She also shared that she’s fortunate to have had great mentors on her journey.

The presence of women in leadership roles and the opportunity to network with them is crucial in helping motivate other women to advance in their careers. These role models will ultimately inspire women to aim higher so they can then become an example to younger generations as well.

Sazon also encouraged women to trust their capability, articulate their purpose and believe in it. She leads GCash with the “Finance for All” vision, offering digital products and services that are safe and convenient from paying bills via the app’s network of 600 billers to buying essentials on the GLife feature on the app.

This National Heroes Day, we not only celebrate the names in our history books, but also the millions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who sacrifice every day to provide for their families back home and create a brighter future for themselves.

While working overseas is a dream for many, it comes with its own set of challenges and sacrifices such as not being physically present for milestones of loved ones or not being able to take full control of where the money they send really goes to.

This is why GCash has designed its features to be accessible to Filipinos overseas. It’s hard enough to be away from home, and being able to support our families should not be any more difficult.

Those based in the Philippines have experienced the ease and convenience GCash has to offer, and those abroad can experience the same, too.

“I first realised I could use GCash abroad when my dad told me to download it to receive relief payments from our local government during the pandemic,” explains Kamae Magsanoc, a marketing professional based in Sydney. “While I didn’t have use for it myself, I was able to access it and send it back to my family back home, where they could put it to good use. Since then, I've explored the app and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to use, not too dissimilar from our banking apps here in Australia,” she says.

Filipinos abroad can easily download the app and register provided they have an active and roaming Philippine sim. According to Kamae, it was easy for her to sign up and verify her account. She has since used the app’s Money Transfer feature on several occasions. “Although I can’t be with my family right now, I was able to celebrate my recent promotion with them. I transferred some money and it went straight into their GCash accounts.” Cashing in your GCash account is easy and convenient through GCash's remittance partners in more than 31 countries around the world.

Kamae also likes to use it to send presents to her family. “I like to support small Filipino businesses. Most, if not all of them now accept GCash, so I can purchase from these small shops, send them to my family and pay directly through GCash. For example, my parents recently celebrated their anniversary and I was able to send my mum flowers from their local florist because they accept GCash. It’s really convenient,” she says.

Joseph Azrael Daluz, a relief assistant educator also based in Australia shares that he has been using GCash for a few months now. “I use it for transferring money to my family, relatives, friends, and people in need,” he says. “I prefer GCash since it is safe and more convenient. It needs less details compared to bank transfers. I just need 3 details - full name, address, and cellphone number and can do it through my mobile phone anytime I want to,” he explains.

According to him, GCash has made it easy for him to manage his finances, even from overseas. “I do not have to stress over asking for details for those I want to send money to for help. It is quick and easy and I can focus on more important things. I highly recommend it! There are a lot of people getting sick nowadays because of the pandemic and the consequences of being in a lockdown. GCash allows me to extend my help in an efficient way.”

Filipinos overseas also have access to GCash’s bills payment feature, where they can pay for bills such as water and electricity directly. This can eliminate the worry of whether money sent home is being used for the right purposes.

Buhay sa Cruise Ship Facebook Group founder Rinell Banda would also recommend GCash to Filipinos overseas, especially seamen. “I have used several of the features myself, including Money Transfer, Bills Payment and GInvest. I have made a few YouTube videos about it. If it is this easy and convenient to use even for Filipinos abroad, I would happily recommend it to OFWs,” he says.

With millions of Filipinos working overseas, sending money and providing for their families back home is one of the things that require an easy and reliable service. Filipinos abroad can trust GCash in helping care for their families in many ways, from money transfer, to bills payment and more.

Celebrate OFWs as your hero this National Heroes Day by joining the GCash MoneyGram Saludo Sayo contest. From now until August 29, those in the Philippines can win P50,000 for their OFW family and friends when they claim for their GCash remittance through Moneygram. Post a photo of your nominated OFW on Facebook and share why they are your hero and use the hashtags #OFWBayaniKo and #GCashMoneyGramSaludoSayo. Three winners will be announced via Facebook on August 30, 2021, in time for National Heroes Day.

During the pandemic, more Filipinos started micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), such as online shops of various essentials and retail products. In the new normal, these MSMEs, as well as their customers, need contactless transactions and deliveries for everyone’s safety.

To help MSMEs and the community during these times, GCash, the country’s mobile leading wallet, ties up with GoGo Xpress (GGX), one of the country’s fastest growing digital logistics companies and reliable express courier founded by QuadX, to include GCash as a safe and convenient option for payments and deliveries. For GoGo Xpress deliveries, GCash offers shoppers two payment options: GCash Wallet and Scan-to-Pay.

“Many MSMEs provide Filipinos with essentials, create job opportunities, and contribute to the economy. GCash, together with GoGo Xpress, will continue to innovate to help businesses nationwide, especially MSMEs, pivot to a safe and cashless ecosystem and thrive even during the pandemic,” said GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon.

MSMEs and shoppers can start using GCash Wallet by simply downloading the GCash app for free on the Google Play or Apple Store and register for an account. After providing your mobile number, simply submit the 6-digit authentication code sent to your number, read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and fill in the contact information requested on the GCash registration form.

GCash users can also choose the Scan-to-Pay option when paying for deliveries by tapping the QR code on the navigation bar of the GCash app and aligning their phone’s camera to the rider’s QR code for it to be scanned. To fast-track economic recovery amid the pandemic, public and private sectors must unite and work together to achieve a more inclusive financial ecosystem for all Filipinos. This is the vision behind One with the Nation: Forging Public-Private Partnerships Towards Digital Inclusion in the Philippines, a webinar organized by GCash, the countrys no. 1 mobile wallet app in collaboration with various national government agencies and local government units (LGUs).

The webinar featured distinguished speakers from both the  public  and private sectors led by  Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Gov. Benjamin Diokno, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, Congressman Jose Enrirque Garcia, DSWD Director Wayne Belizar, Bureau of Treasury of the Philippines OIC Deputy Treasurer Ed Marino,  BSP Deputy Dir. for Payment Systems Atty. Leah M. Irao, GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon, GCash Vice President for Enterprise Jose Luis Reyes and GCash AVP and Head of  Public Sector & Partnerships Cathlyn Pavia.

Our partnerships with the private sector have provided us with a wide network to reach more customers and develop more relevant financial services and products, said Martha Sazon, GCash president and chief executive officer. But in order to truly reach the unbanked and underserved communities, we look to the public sector with their expertise and resources. Together, we can really make a difference in the lives of Filipinos.

The event opened with a Keynote Message from BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno on Digital Financial Inclusion: Impacting the Lives of Millions of Filipinos. In his message to the participants, Governor Diokno underscored the importance of making financial inclusion a reality for every Filipino in the country. This was followed by a panel discussion on Digital Infrastructure: The Journey Starts Today! led by BSP deputy director Atty Leah M. Irao and Cong. Jose Enrique Garcia. Atty. Irao and Congressman Garcia discussed the value of digitalization to promote the safety and security of Filipinos even beyond the pandemic.

A talk on the importance of outlining a strategic path towards digital transformation was discussed next by Pavia in Digital Roadmap: Are We Ready to Innovate?. In her talk, Pavia emphasized the critical value of implementing digitalization in phases, and how digital solutions can be seamlessly integrated in order to create a hybrid approach and to facilitate smoother adoption.

In his talk on Digital Manual: 101 Opportunities to Move Forward!, Director Marino discussed the long-term benefits of creating sound policies and guidelines, ensuring transparency during digital transformation.

Highlighting trailblazing partnerships going cashless, Makati Mayor Abby Binay led a panel entitled Digital Headstart: Kaya Mo Pilipino! In Makati, data of its constituents were collected and used to create the Makatizen ID card and open GCash accounts. The card serves as a valid ID that can be used to avail of government services, and a debit card to withdraw in any Bancnet ATM or use in Mastercard-accepting merchants. Likewise, Makati also uses GCash to disburse the salaries of employees, and allowances of senior citizens, and other financial assistance such as Maka-tulong. With Mayor Binay was DSWD Dir. Delizer who in turn shared the agencys groundbreaking SAP disbursement program last year.

This successful partnership at the height of the pandemic last year was the collaboration between GCash and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for safer distribution of funds for its Social Amelioration Program. GCash was able to distribute more than P16 billion to at least 2 million Filipinos, saving the government about 952 days and around P52 million. GCash continues to support DSWD in its Assistance for Individuals Under Crisis Situation program on a monthly basis.

The mobile app has also partnered with the Social Security System (SSS). Since February, SSS has enabled GCash as an option for receiving benefits through PESOnet. The app has provided SSS members an option to pay their monthly contribution payments via the apps Pay Bills feature. Likewise for PAG-IBIG, contributions are also conveniently accepted via Pay Bills and Web Pay.

Closing the webinar was GCash VP for Enterprise Jose Luis Reyes who stressed the importance of financial inclusion and expressed optimism that despite todays challenges, there is a clear way forward to achieve BSPs vision and make Filipino lives better every day.

These programs are proof that strong partnerships between the private and public sectors are crucial in successfully bringing the benefits of digitalization and financial inclusion to Filipinos at a time when they need it most.

GCash, the undisputed leading and preferred mobile wallet in the Philippines, has started the registration of the recipients of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) P16.27-billion Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to facilitate the quick disbursement of financial assistance to beneficiaries.

GCash started funding the mobile wallets of beneficiaries from Quezon City, Caloocan City, and Makati City. The beneficiaries from other cities and provinces from seven regions will also receive their financial assistance soon.

GCash is still waiting for the complete list of recipients from other local government units (LGUs) so that they can register them as recipients of the second tranche of SAP.

“Our goal is to quickly facilitate the registration and disbursement processes to help provide relief to those who were adversely affected by the pandemic. We will continue providing the government with necessary tools and platforms to help win the fight against COVID-19,” Luigi Reyes, VP for Enterprise and Head of GCash For Business, said.

The amount to be disbursed to beneficiaries’ GCash wallets range from P5,500 to P8,000, depending on the area.

The DSWD tapped GCash to the second tranche of SAP, along with other financial service providers that were endorsed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). Around 2.5 million beneficiaries will receive their financial assistance via GCash.

GCash has provided its disbursement platform to the DSWD for free.

Aside from cashing out their financial assistance from partner establishments such as Puregold, Villarica Pawnshops, as well as ATMs through their GCash MasterCard, beneficiaries of the second tranche of the SAP may use their mobile wallets for a variety of financial services.

GCash empowers users to pay for physical and online transactions to over 75,000 merchants, transact with over 400 billers, and transfer funds to over 40 banks in the Philippines. GCash users may also use their GCash wallets to buy airtime load, save money, invest in money market funds, and purchase insurance products.

By partnering with GCash, the government is also promoting financial inclusion, as GCash offers various financial tools and services to its users such as credit, savings, insurance, and investments.

Since the start of the community quarantine, GCash has enabled other national government agencies and local government units in distributing financial aid to Filipinos adversely affected by the national health situation.

GCash has so far disbursed close to P2 billion in financial aid to more than 335,000 Filipinos, including beneficiaries from Makati City, Quezon City, and Pasig City, as well as those under the lists of the Department of Transportation-Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and the Social Security System.

“We will soon disburse the financial aid to the other regions, pending the go-signal from the DSWD. For now, we are assisting the government in hastening the registration process for the intended beneficiaries so that we can efficiently distribute the financial assistance to more people,” Reyes said.

Globe Fintech Innovations Inc. (Mynt), which operates GCash, is part of the portfolio companies of 917Ventures, the largest corporate incubator in the Philippines wholly-owned by Globe Telecom Inc.

When thinking of traits that best describe Filipinos, the words “generous,” “kind,” or “giving,” among others, often come to mind.

True enough, the Filipino spirit of thoughtfulness is heavily ingrained in our culture that we even created traditions such as pasalubong or the act of bringing back home even the smallest tokens for loved ones and friends. Celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries and any holiday imaginable get us excited because they signal another opportunity to give gifts to each other.

Such generosity is just one manifestation of how our culture values close ties with family and loved ones. It comes as no surprise that wherever we go, we always think of ways to make those back home feel loved and remembered.

These days, the act of sending money—be it repaying a friend, giving a cash gift to a loved one or even just sending your child’s daily allowance—has been made even more personal and memorable. GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, takes the monotony out of an everyday task such as sending money with innovative and creative Send Money options on the app.

Users can now send money with a more personalized touch with the added options to attach photos, videos or audio messages through the Send with a Clip feature. Especially for those sending money from miles away, the addition of a photo or short video makes the act more heartwarming and exciting on the receiving end.

To celebrate special occasions such as weddings, birthdays and Lunar New Year, GCash has also added an Ang Pao Send Money feature. Users can send their best wishes to relatives and friends along with a cash gift enclosed in a virtual version of the classic red envelope.

Sometimes, thoughtfulness also comes with keeping the welfare and convenience of the receiver in mind. The Express Send option on GCash is a quick, easy and fuss-free way to instantly send money to someone in dire need. The Send to Bank feature also credits the amount directly to the recipient’s bank account, enabling immediate withdrawal or use.

The great news is that GCash customers are able to enjoy these features free of charge—instantaneously and with the same ease as other GCash financial transactions and features.

Through such thoughtful innovations, Filipinos all over the country and in other places abroad who may be separated by miles can be brought together in celebrating small milestones through the power of their mobile phones and e-wallets.

GCash, being the leader in the mobile wallet segment, aims to continuously innovate and improve the user experience through these value-added services and features.

GCash Insure, the new comprehensive yet affordable insurance product for GCash users, has partnered with AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance companies, to underwrite coverage; and MicroEnsure, a global digital insurance provider, to serve as administrator and distributor for this innovative offering.

With life and personal accident insurance coverage of up to P200,000 and daily hospital income insurance up to P10,000, GCash Insure allows Filipinos to have insurance for themselves and their families at an affordable monthly or annual premium. Payments will be deducted from their GCash accounts depending on the customer’s preferred and agreed-upon payment frequency.

Customers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, or platinum benefit plans which can cover the user and other beneficiaries, such as their families of up to three persons.

GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, has begun offering micro-insurance products to its users as a way of democratizing access to financial protection. The technology is provided by MicroEnsure.

“It is of utmost importance to feel financially secured, especially during unfortunate events that no one can see coming,” said Rahul Hora, president and CEO of AXA Philippines.  “However, a vast majority of Filipinos believe that insurance is expensive or can’t afford to get insurance for themselves or their families. Here at AXA, we believe in empowering people to live a better life and that is why we have joined this initiative and partnered with reliable platforms to bridge that gap."

GCash chief data officer Jean-Francois Darre added, “We realized that the insurance needs of Filipinos were not being met due to the reliance of incumbent players on traditional distribution models, and the low awareness among Filipinos of the need for insurance. We want people to understand the benefits of securing their family’s future if something happens to them. We want to provide financial protection that they can afford and appreciate.”

Richard Leftley, CEO of MicroEnsure, said, “Providing insurance to the mass market has many challenges that can only be overcome through partnerships. We are excited to be utilizing our skills in creating, selling, and servicing insurance for the mass market which we have gained over the last 17 years to drive this partnership forward.”

For many Filipinos, availing loans in traditional banks and other finnacial institutions are so hard especially with so many requirements they have to meet. This glaring fact only show why many are still unbanked. With this limited choices in the face of financial emergencies, some would turn to loan sharks who impose hefty interest.

It is because of such gap in financial services that Mynt, the company behind GCash, designed a way to make loans more accessible for Filipinos while at the same time giving them a dignified way to borrow.
GCredit, the country’s first mobile, QR-based credit line, aims to make loans available to everyone. It allows users to pay their bills and buy from partner merchants using credit.

GCredit has over 250,000 credit lines and impressive default rates, reaching underserved sectors.

At the heart of GCredit is the GScore, the first trust-based score in the country. So how does it work? Read on.

The GScore is a 3-digit number that represents a user’s relationship with GCash. The score is based on how users transact with GCash, whether by sending money, buying load or making payments, among others.

One’s GScore is earned through frequency of GCash use: the higher it is, the higher the credit limit.

Maintaining a good GScore is vital in keeping access to GCredit. The credit limit starts at P1,000, but keeping a good GScore gives users a chance to avail themselves of bigger loans.
Another reason to maintain a good GScore is to lower interest rate, which begins at 5% every 30 days.

GCredit allows users to pay some 400 in-app billers or to transact in over 50,000 GCash QR- accepting merchants across the country.

It’s also easy to pay for GCredit dues. Just pay through “Manage Credit” on the GCash app with your GCash balance or settle in partner outlets such as Bayad Center, 7-Eleven and LBC.

GScore is a unique way of tapping into a credit line because it is not based on documents, but on a carefully studied behavior when using your mobile wallet. You do not need to submit paperwork to prove your ability to pay loans, but through your mobile wallet transactions, GCash can determine your credit worthiness. And it deems every Filipino worthy of credit.
