Furniture Giant Crate and Barrel Opens 2nd Store at SM Aura Premier

by - June 03, 2015

After a successful opening of  the Manila flagship store in SM Megamall last year, Crate and Barrel officially opens its second store at SM Aura Premier last week. It was well attended by the metro's finest  and celebrities. We were invited to this much hyped event and tour the whole store as well.

Crate and Barrel is a by-word for designer chic among the US middle classes. And now Filipino consumers could see its products affordability. The firm was founded by Gordon and Carole Segal in 1962 with just $17,000 of funds, including a loan from Mr. Segal's father. The first shop was in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Segal launched the business after their honeymoon in Europe and were inspired by the inexpensive home furnishings available across the continent - only to realize they were not available back home.

Since then the business has grown to more than 170 shops in the US, through the Crate and Barrel and CB2 brands and its third brand, The Land of Nod which sells home furnishings and children's gifts.

At present the store is showcasing its shore-inspired spring collections, a curated assortment inspired by the easy lifestyle and fresh colors of serene shore. This new collection celebrates the return of spring with a mix of colors, patterns, shapes and textures inspired  by nature and the shore.Rich blue, soft turquoise, crisp and white elegant neutrals inspire an escape from the daily routine to a place where the tide comes n and relaxed life plays out.

Here are some of its Spring Collections:
Aqua blue stripes renders in a textured combination of plain and dobby weave cotton evoke the casual air of seaside cottage.Duvet has a button closure and inner fabric ties to keep duvet inserts in place.
Entertain in style with this spring collections that highlight natural finishes and a range of colors from soft blues and greens to deep navy, taking a cue from the calming shore. Ceramic Fish, Kaleidoscope Centerpiece bowl, Oster Shimmer Print and Gourd Vases.

Pesce pillow is endangered art from Mexico where the Otomi people of Hidalgo captures the spirit of joyous family gatherings, festival, etc in this masterful embroidery of handcrafted yarn. The Lasnbury Pillow is inspired by antique Japanese style designed by Genevieve Bennet. The Florita Vase is a casual bottle-shaped vase corrals in recycled glass. The Potted Dune grass evokes summer wind, seaside and carefree days with a dramatic spray of tall beach grasses.
The event was very well attended and food, music, as well as laughter overflowed.

And this bed is my favorite part of the tour. I want one!
