A day after his arrival in Manila, Marlon Stockinger, Lotus F1 Junior Team and the 2015 Renault World Series race car driver was presented to the media and been named as the mentor and guest judge of the finalist in the First Nissan GT Academy Philippines.
Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director Antonio "Toti" Zara gushed about Stockinger's extensive racing experience and knowledge and said that the would be finalist will be very fortunate that Stockinger will be part of their training. He will serve as mentor to the finalist in Race Camp week in August . His expertise and invaluable racing skills will possibly help one of the finalist to be the first Filipino GT Academy Asia champion.
Stockinger has several titles and honors under his name, both in local and international arena. To name a few, he was in the Formula BMW Pacific 2008 Championships, the Senior Rotax Max World Finals in 200, the Asian Karting Championship 2006 and Philippine Shell Super Karting Series in 2002. And recently, he was a competitor in the Renault World Series Championship, the series that is just one step below Formula One.
As he was being interviewed he cracked a joke, upon seeing the Nissant GTA pod, that had his father known he could train in that pod or something like it before, his father wouldn't have spent expensively during his training. Stockinger is also glad that he could share his racing knowledge and experience. He said that nothing beats determination and the drive to succeed in such a demanding sport. He will be reminding the finalist thst his coaching will be for nothing if the finalist won't work as hard to get the ultimate prize and distinction of being the first Filipino GT Academy Asia Champion.
