Don't look now but there's a new star joining the Gatorade' s unbeatable squad. Earlier, the world’s number one sports drink welcome Scottie Thompson,  the future of the PBA, as its newest brand ambassador.

The young and talented Scottie  joins the powerhouse team of Philippine sports icons including his Ginebra teammate and veteran LA Tenorio and volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez.

"Since the beginning of his pro basketball career, Scottie has shown remarkable skill and exemplified grit and passion,” Pepsico Philippines Marketing Manager for Hydration Irvin Sta. Maria said. ”As a global brand that has fueled the world’s best athletes, Gatorade has always been at the forefront of supporting up and coming talents like Scottie who are ready to take their games to the next level.”

Thompson was the 2014 MVP of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) while playing for the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altos. In 2015, he helped the Hapee Fresh Fighters win their first ever PBA D-League title. Fresh off that victory, he was drafted fifth overall by Barangay Ginebra where his outstanding performance has earned him praises from PBA fans, pundits and no less than head coach Tim Cone. He is dubbed as one of the league’s best rebounding guards today and his tenacity on court refiects the team’s ’never say die’ mantra.

Sta. Maria added, ”We’re excited to see Scottie inspire more people, especially aspiring athletes, to always put in the hard work and understand the value of proper hydration in fueling sports greatness.”

During the Q and A portion, the shooting guard from Davao del Sur said that it has always been his dream to be part of Gatorade's long list of athletes just like his idols in the basketball the legendary Michael Jordan and his teammate LA Tenorio.
