Lulu Group local subsidiary May Exports Philippines Officially Inaugurated in Calamba, Laguna
On
August 8, 2018, Lulu Group, one of the fastest growing supermarket chains that
is mostly based in the Middle East and have over 138 branches in many countries launched its first
business endeavor in the country through its local subsidiary, the May Exports
Philippines. Its first warehouse is located in the Calamba Premiere
International Park in Laguna.
A
festive atmosphere welcomed the guests and officials led by Lulu Group
International chairman and managing director Yusuff Ali M.A., Rajmal Palikandy
Refeeque, Lulu Group’s general manager for Philippines, and PEZA Director
General Charito Plaza and other distinguished guests.
The
May Exports Philippines warehouse will process and handle mostly food products
sourced from local suppliers and will then be distributed to Lulu’s various branches
in the world. Several of these products were displayed during the official
inauguration. Among these products are dry fish, textiles, electronics, dry
foods, seafood, fruits, bananas, vegetables, household items, furniture, as
well as processed foods, canned goods, value-added food and general merchandise.
It is
said that initial investment by the group for this year amounted to an
investment of 1 million dollars. Also, according to Lulu Group’s general manager
for Philippines operations Rajmal Palikandy Refeeque, the company is looking at
purchasing products from farmer cooperatives and is considering sourcing fruits
and vegetables from the Davao region.
Moreover,
they are considering prospects for areas and cities where they will be able to raise vegetables and other crops as well as put up processing industries.
