Serve More Love for the Elderly: Bulacan Old Age Homes Enjoy Special days with SM Malls

by - September 09, 2018

As SM Supermalls celebrates National Grandparent’s day this September, its SM Bulacan Malls in Marilao, San Jose Del Monte, Pulilan and Baliwag recently brought cheers and happiness with “Serve More Love for the elderly” project.

Three old age homes were instantly filled with joy as volunteers from SM Malls took a time off from their work to honor, to recognize and to show love for the elderly.

Elders and seniors got a heartwarming surprise as they were honored with gifts from SM Supermalls and entertained with dance numbers, parlor games and their favorite songs from their era. Along with a hearty meal, each of the seniors received basic necessities such as toiletries, vitamins and new clothes.

SM Bulacan Malls in Marilao, San Jose Del Monte, Pulilan and Baliwag also donated groceries, health and household products to old age house facilities.

“The heart of our Serve More Love for the elderly project is to honor the elderly, acknowledge their wisdom, and appreciate their contribution in our society” said SM City Marilao Human Resources Manager Prescila Salamat.

“Serve More Love for the Elderly” is one of the many projects under the Employee Volunteerism Program that is spearheaded by SM’s Human Resources Department through SM Cares. Apart from inculcating a sense of civic responsibility and building a culture of volunteerism among SM employees, the program also aims to pay respect to the elderly while raising awareness on greater care for the well-being of older people.

“Being able to put a smile in the face of an elderly gives this heartwarming feeling, knowing that they long for love and care. The time spent with them although short is a valuable experience.  I am glad to say that our employees are always ready, willing, and happy to serve more love for the elderly” shares SM City Baliwag Human Resources Manager Rowena Martin.

Over 200 seniors and elderly from Tahanang Mapagpala, Emmaus House of Apostolate and Coalition of Services of the Elderly, Inc in Bulacan benefited in the project.
