17 Creative Adaptive Reuse Projects at PSID's JUXTAPOSE: Espasyo at Panahon Exhibit
The
future of Interior Design in the country is in good hands if the graduation
exhibit of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) Advance Class of
2018 is to be the basis. With distinctive design concepts built on the
foundation of the country’s famous old and historic structures and how they are
place alongside is the main theme of the exhibit. Dubbed as JUXTAPOSE:
Espasyo at Panahon, the not-to-be-missed month-long exhibit starts on October
1 and ends on October 31, 2018 at the Santolan Town Plaza in San Juan City.
Repurposing
old buildings from what it was originally built for has never been more
inspiring as the PSID Advance Class of 2018 explore adaptive reuse as a
solution to design problems, breathing new life to it and at the same time conserving its historic value.
In
partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and co-presented
by Santolan Town Plaza, the highly anticipated exhibit will showcase 17 booths
that will challenge the audience, proponents of cultural heritage conservation
and developers to find creative solutions in the restoration and rehabilitation
of historic structures.
The
exhibit will take the audience into three well thought of galleries: Tahanan, Pangkalakal, and Pang-industriya.
The Tahanan gallery focuses on the residential
buildings like the iconic Bahay na Bato, and feature booths such as “The Bar Beneath…in
San Juan“, “The Vigan Atelier”, “Small Space, Big Living”, “Modern Filipino
Haven”, ”Bridal Boudoir”, and the “Marahuyo Spa and Tea House”.

You
will be amazed how these three galleries showcase current interior design
concepts such as bars, cafes, specialty stores, and wellness centers among
others to become ways in which forgotten historic structures are given
relevance once again. It serves as an inspiration for practical game-changing
interior design solutions thus creating a new niche in the concept of adaptive
reuse.
