Downtrodden and desperately seeking for validation, in work and her mother’s life, a saleslady’s life is about to change when she found a gun near her place.Suddenly, everything changes. No longer feeling lowly, the gun in her possession made her become bolder. What bolder things she.did and how the gun drastically changes her perception of life is what you should find out when you watch this Rae Red’s sophomore feature and first solo directorial effort Babae at Baril. It is an official entry to QCinema International Film Festival and produced by Cignal Entertainment and Epicmedia.

Starring Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez in the saleslady role, the film also stars Felix Roco, Elijah Canlas, JC Santos, and Sky Teotico with special participation of Ruby Ruiz, Allan Paule, and Archie Ad

My Thoughts

What struck me most about the movie is how Direk Rae Red showed how it is like to be a woman in a world of violence and masculinity and how the littlest of thing is somehow interconnected even if you thought an event is impossible to be connected at first.

In most part, I admire how Janine Gutierrez’ can convey emotion effectively with her eyes and you can almost feel her exhaustion in her everyday life dealing with her Manager and her daily commute. The movie turned into psycho-thriller after she decided to use the gun and her feeling that she can do anything she wants, talk back to whomever she wants, and even hurt anyone she wants
