Adventures of a Diva Princess

If you're a lover of K-drama, then you'll know it's a constant seeing characters eating chicken with gusto. For fans of Goblin and Crash Landing on You, the chicken brand, BB.Q Chicken, characters of the drama loves to eat has finally landed in Manila! BB.Q Chicken is one of Korea's biggest and most popular brands.

BB.Q stands for “Best of the Best Quality” Chicken, explains Jack Hyunsoo Noh, CEO of LCS Group Korea, the official partner of Genesis BB.Q Global. The chicken restaurant, which first opened in 1995 is now present in 57 countries with over 3,500 branches. “There are so many brands in Korea that chicken is considered as a national snack. BB.Q is promoting healthy, high-quality chicken to its customers in such markets.

The Korean brand has set a new record in franchise history by opening 1,000 stores in its first four years of operation. It has become Korea's No. 1 chicken by continuing to release various menu and store business models according to cultural trends. Noh adds that they felt it was the right time to introduce the brand to the Philippines. “Due to the historic BB.Q results in the Korean market and rapid growth in North America, we opened here to serve as the Southeast Asian Hub of Genesis BB.Q Group to write a history of its success from the Philippines, the largest market in Southeast Asia.”

One of the reasons for its popularity is that they use olive oil for frying to make the chicken not only deliciously crunchy but also healthier. The chicken is coated with a variety of sauces to suit the customers’ taste. Among the flavours that will be available for Filipino customers include Honey Garlic, Hot Spicy, Soy Garlic, and Cheesling.

For a more Korean take on taste, they also have Galbi, Spicy Galbi, Gang-Jeong (soybased sauce with cinnamon blend and chili garnish), and Gangnam Style (a black pepper sauce balanced with garlic and onions). Those who want to try the OG fried chicken version can order Golden Original, Secret Sauce, or Spicy Golden Wings, while those who want it really hot can try the Wings of Fire, which is said to be Korea’s hottest chicken wings.

They are so serious about offering the best quality chicken that they even established a Chicken University in Seoul to put the brand on the cutting edge of quality and flavour. BB.Q Chicken’s secret to success is their passion for offering the best chicken and their passion for promoting Korean culture through authentic recipes, exciting flavours, and superior customer service. Experience the biggest Korean chicken brand at the first Philippine BB.Q Chicken branch located at 2/F Central Square BGC, Taguig City.

Pop-Up Street’s concept is simple. First, it aims to serve as an incubator for startups and online stores for new and young entrepreneurs to hone their brand and test the saleability of their products before they decide to set up an establishment in BGC. The city is the perfect location to test marketability because it is populated daily by close to a million residents, office workers, and visitors.

Apart from that, it provides an interim space for established brands to hold short-term campaigns or introduce new or seasonal products.

“In a sense, Pop-Up Street also brings people together as a community of passionate entrepreneurs and excited shoppers who share the same appreciation for this kind of lifestyle. It has the added value of being outdoors, which gives off that enjoying-a-park vibe. This is certainly a good option to spend free time or weekends at,” said Francesca Padilla, BGC’s Marketing & Community Relations Officer.

Among the first locators currently at Pop-Up Street is Ethan Cash Sneaker Lounge, a team of experts on shoe restoration who promise to remove stains, straighten creases, and do everything to make kicks look new again.

Since shoppers today are into social enterprises or companies that give back to the community, Pop-Up Street allotted space for AKABA, a fair-trade business that makes quality handwoven bags from Filipino indigenous textiles. AKABA’s customers carry stylish knapsacks or tote bags while giving back to the artisan Filipinos who work hard in production.

Apart from these retail brands, food establishments have also set up shop at Pop-Up Street. XOXO Ice Cream, which originated in Bali, serves handcrafted ice cream in unique flavors, while Black Wagyu is cooking imported yet affordable mouthwatering Japanese beef cubes.

“We are inviting everyone to come check out Pop-Up Street and have a truly novel shopping experience only here in Bonifacio Global City. It’s a place to find new products to love and, of course, to support entrepreneurship,” Padilla said.

As brands lease for short periods of time only, there’s always something new to offer for shoppers. Pop-Up Street is located along Bonifacio High Street near 7th Avenue. Indeed, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas especially for BGCitizens as Jack Daniel's kicked off its Yuletide tradition of lighting its iconic Holiday Barrel Tree last Friday, November 23, 2018 at C1 Park, 5th Avenue, High Street Central Square, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City.

The festivity coincide with the launch of Bar No.7, Jack Daniel's first pop-up bar in Metro Manila that serves gourmet holiday drinks especially created by Curator's senior bartender and mixologist, Giann Divino. The lighting of the massive Christmas tree was witnessed by VIPs, media personalities and social media influencers.

The world's No.1 whiskey brand continues the long-standing tradition of putting up a Holiday Barrel Tree, made from Jack Daniels’s very own oak barrels, in major cosmopolitan areas across the globe. One hundred twenty-two (122) barrels were repurposed into this special structure bearing a message that speaks to the brand's mantra: "It's not what's under the tree that matters; it's who's around it."

The highly anticipated global tradition marked its debut in the Philippines in 2014 when two Holiday Barrel Trees were raised in two venues in Metro Manila, Fuerte Circle in Eastwood City and at The Fort Plaza in Bonifacio Global City. The structures were touted as the first Holiday barrel tree in Southeast Asia, a feat that recognizes the top whiskey company's growing presence in the country.

The Jack Daniel's Holiday Barrel Tree 2018 can now be viewed within the business and commercial district of Bonifacio High Street, where family and friends can gather around and enjoy its welcoming, festive vibe.

Starting September 17, 2018, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) will be implementing a new one-way scheme in key roads along its city center to help improve traffic flow and lessen traffic congestion as shown in the map below:

“A one-way traffic flow is the most efficient traffic circulation scheme for BGC’s street grid network because it maximizes the width of the street that is available for traffic, reduces the conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians at intersections, and minimizes the time that vehicles and pedestrians are stopped at traffic signals. Overall, BGC should become less congested and faster to travel in with a one-way traffic scheme” said Bonifacio Estate Services Corporation General Manager, Jun Galvez.

BGC, as one of the country’s top central business and lifestyle districts, is rapidly developing with high-rise condominiums, offices, shopping malls, entertainment centers, museums, and educational institutions. These developments attract traffic from all over Metro Manila and in addition, a large volume of pass-by traffic between C-5, EDSA and Makati passes through BGC which creates congestion during rush hours.

The one-way traffic scheme is intended to address this large volume of vehicles that go to and pass through BGC. A similar one-way traffic scheme was implemented in the Makati CBD in the past which reduced traffic congestion and improved travel time in the area.

To make sure that the new one-way scheme will become effective, BGC will continue its existing wheel clamping and towing operations to curb illegal street parking and keep its major streets free of obstructions. To further reduce the incidence of illegal parking, BGC recently launched an app for both iOS and Android devices to help motorists easily find parking spots within the city.

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) will be strictly implementing the use of wheel clamps on illegally parked vehicles starting April 15, following Barangay Fort Bonifacio Ordinance 14-133. The move is meant to prevent congestion, enhance traffic flow, and to support BGC’s pedestrian priority program.

Under the ordinance, unattended vehicles parked on the street will automatically be clamped until the tow truck arrives. If the driver, however, arrives before his car is about to be clamped, he will only be issued a Unified Official Valuation Receipt (UOVR). Penalty for clamped vehicles is P1,000 plus the settlement of the issued UOVR.

Meanwhile, residents and visitors are encouraged to maximize the 5,000+ public parking slots available in and around the city. And now with the help of the new BGC app, downloadable on both Android and iOS devices, motorists can get real-time information on parking availability and navigation.

“More than anything, this is about road safety and traffic alleviation. We ask for everyone’s cooperation as we work closely with the local government of Taguig and adopt policies to improve the quality of life in BGC, for motorists and pedestrians alike,” said Jun Galvez, General Manager of Bonifacio Estate Services Corp.

Further information on city rules and ordinances may be obtained by contacting the Bonifacio Estate Services Corp. at +632 816-2372.
