Relaxed Fine Dining at Dome Cafe
Dome Café is kind of intimidating to me at first. It’s
like a café that is inside a five star hotel where diners is usually dress to
kill. But the happy faces of the head waiter as he welcomed me inside made me
feel at ease.
Dome Café is located in the far corner of the famed
EDSA Shangrila Plaza. It’s been there as long as I can remember. This is a
favorite place for people who have just finished shopping or just passing off
the time with good food while waiting for loved ones.
As you enter Dome you are welcomed by a splendid setting, it feels
like you are in a very chic place in another country. We chose to seat
inside where we have a view outside. The Dome look cosy and the lounge-type
atmosphere are made more authentic with its aged leather armchairs and pictures
everywhere are displayed on the walls.
For our mouth-watering starters, they served us the Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella
Sticks and the Spiced Sausage.
I could have had all
the Chicken Fingers that were served; it’s so tender and crunchy as well.
The Mozzarella Sticks
is deep fried to golden perfection and as it was still hot you could see how gooey the mozzarella is. The dipping sauce highlighted the taste of the
mozzarella and we enjoyed every bite of it.
I was waiting for the
Spiced Sausages, sausages are one of my favorite foods and Dome Cafe did not
fail when I have a taste of the Spiced Sausage. It is not spicy enough to enjoy
its meaty flavor.
We ordered three kinds
of their popular pasta and we sure glad that we did.
The Seafood Aioli
Pasta tasted so fresh and I love how the Olive Oil mixed greatly with the
seafood and brings out its seafood goodness the most.
The Tomato Basil with
Grilled Chicken Pasta is so flavorful. The pasta is topped genereously with
chunks of Grilled Chicken.
What i find really
exquisite is their Vigan Longganisa Pasta. Surprisingly it is not salty as i
thought it would be and the combination of pasta and the Vigan longanisa is
quite delectable.
We were really pigging
out that day. I was waiting for the main course but they serve us their two
famous sandwiches, the Chicken Pesto sandwich and the Classic Club Sandwich.
The Chicken Pesto
sandwich is oozing with large chunks of chicken and lettuce. The pesto
drippings are generous and one serving of this is enough with a good cup of
coffee or their cold drinks.
The Classic Club
Sandwich is not your ordinary club sandwich. It is thick enough with ham,
cheese, lettuce, tomato and spreads. They served it with fries.
Then the main course
finally arrived.
First is the Bangus
Belly. Served with best part of a Bangus, its vegetable sidings complement the
dish. You need to Squeeze in a lemon first to the fish before eating and you
are good to go.
The Grilled Pork Ribs
is grilled to perfection. The serving is large enough and when I took a bite
the ribs is tender and juicy.
But I don’t think it’s
comparable to when I tasted the Grilled Pork Chops. It’s seasoned so well that
I find myself tasting more of this.
The Fish and Chips is
crispy but soft in the inside. The dip that accompanies it is tangy and perfect
for the golden fried fish.
The Roast Beef Belly
is coated with enough sauce that it somehow incorporates into the beef. One
thing i can tell you, this dish is best eaten with rice.
After all the delicious
dishes that were served to us, the arrival of the Chocolate Cake, cheesecake
and the carrot cake is enough to make us groan. But who can resist such
delicious desserts. It’s almost a sin not to have a bite of it.
The chocolate cake is
what ambrosia must taste like to those Greek Goddesses. The chocolate icing that covers the moist cake is slathered generously.
The cheesecake is
bursting with flavors and the base is crumbly yet perfectly chilled.
I never like Carrot
Cake, may be because it’s still a vegetable and orangey in color but taking a
bite of Dome’s Carrot Cake seems like a good idea. I never know that the cake
could taste delicious and moist.
With all the food we tasted that day, I say, all of
them were fresh and all the dishes had the warmth of home-cooked meal. We were
served with only the best quality dishes. The restaurant also has a large selection shakes, juices and cold
drinks and all are worth sampling.
Since it was a Saturday, the place was quite full
and it is proof enough that the Dome served only high quality dishes. We had a
pleasant dining experience with dishes of the most exquisite flavours. For sure
I will be back again here at Dome and I highly recommend going here especially after a hard day of shopping or
if you just want to relax and have a good cup of coffee and their most
delicious cakes.
