Gustatory Adventures at Bondi&Bourke BGC
Good food bring happiness in life.
Mention the word Bondi and some people
would associate it with one of Austalia’s famous destination – the Bondi Beach.
But here in Manila there’s another Bondi that many people flock to and sample
the Australian cuisine made by the internationally renowned chef Wade Watson. It’s
Bondi&Bbourke second home at Forbes Town Center, BGC which they formally open.

It’s my first time at Bondi&ourke
but I’ve already heard so much about them from my friends who frequent their
Makati Flagship store. Bondi^Bourke look very classy outside and I was right as
I entered it. What caught my attention was the wall with green plants where you
can see the restaurant logo. I also like their open kitchen where you see the
hustle and busstle of the kitchen staff and the Chef in his element.
With most of their seats located
upstair, Bondi&Bourke is a 106-seater space. Part of the wall is mostly
glass and you can see outside. I’m fascinated with their profuse lighting
fixture making the place bright and conducive to happy eating.
Bondi&Bourke boasts a collection
of imported meats and seafood, offering choices of US, Australian, and
Creekstone Prime rib-eye steaks, Australian lamb chops and snapper fillets
accompanied by delicious side dishes. For those who cannot decide on the meat,
try the best-selling Mussels and Oyster selections; Spicy Red Thai Curry,
Moules Mariniere, Kilpatrick, Mornay, and Fresh-Shucked with mignonette.
As we wait for the formal launch,
champagne and canapes overflowed. You know you’re about to commit gastronomic
sin when you see how delicious the canapes they served is. And my eyes don’t
lie; the Prawn Cocktail, Mini Pies and Sausage Rolls, Fish and Chips tastes as
good as it looks. I can hardly wait for the main menu. And rightfully so as we
indulge in their Warm Mushroom Salad, Lebanese Chicken Skewers, and the main meal
for me – a whole slab of rib-eye steak. Nope I did not eat the whole slab! The
medium rare steak is juicy and cooked just the way I love it.
But nothing says Australian creation without
the Lamington, a snack/dessert which is little sponge cakes coated in grated
coconut and chocolates. And who would ever say no the Sticky Toffee Pudding
they serve which is Bondi&Bourke crowdf favorite.
Bondi&Bourke coffee, mocktails and
cocktails drinks and smoothies is varied. The berry-based smoothies are a
delight with lots of berry bits as you bottoms up.
All
these meal we sampled were the creations of Chef Wade Watson who has made
himself at home here in the Philiipines. Having been a chef to many countries,
he has brought his culinary skills in the country. It’s a nice thought that
when its time for hiim to build his own restaurant chain the Filipinos were
lucky enough to sample it.
