Herbalife Family Foundation bringsfestive cheer to over 200 children at the SOS Children’s Village In the Philippines
To cap off an eventful year, Herbalife Family
Foundation (HFF) visited two of its
beneficiary organizations under, SOS Children’s Village, to bring the festive
cheer to over 200 children.During the visits, HFF Philippines held activities,which
brought fun and joy and left big smiles on the children’s faces.
As part of the activities, Herbalife donated a total of
250 booksto the Batangas and Bataan Villages of SOS through the CASA Herbalife
Program, the flagship project of HFF.The books were given by Herbalife
independent members and guests viaa month-long book collection program
organized by Herbalife Philippines, and benefitted245 children from the
villages.
Barbette Soliven, Corporate Communications Manager at
Herbalife Philippines and the lead organizer of the activities said, “Ever
since we started these visits enabled by the CASA Herbalife program, we have
strived to make it a more engaging experience for both the volunteers and the
kids. I’m heartened to see that we have achieved that this time round, and am
glad to see the smiles on the childrens’ and volunteers’ faces at the end of
the day.”
Herbalife distributors, executives and volunteers also spent
two consecutive Saturdays (November 26 and December 3) at the SOS facilities in
Lipa, Batangas and Mariveles, Bataan, where they spent time interacting with
and playing with the children
One of the key highlights was the Ultimate Frisbee Clinic
organized by Herbalife Philippines, where thechildren were taught the basics of
the sport, before culminating in a scrimmage game played together with the volunteer
team.The eventual winning team was applauded by all the participants, and won
themselves a HerbalifeT-shirt and a Frisbee each.
“We are very grateful to all the Members who have
supported the activities and took time to be with us; as well as the young
volunteers who joined us in teaching these kids the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, ”Barbette
Soliven added.
SOS Children’s Village has been a recipient of the CASA
Herbalife program for six years now. In2016, grants from HFF were used to conduct
supplementary feeding programs and provide nutrition educationat targeted
locations within the Philippines, benefitting 609 children below the age of 12
in 24 communities.
First established in the United States in 2005, the CASA
Herbalife Program aims to improve the lives of children around the world by bringing
good nutrition to those living in orphanages, attending after-school centers,
and other non-profit facilities. Through the CASAHerbalife Program, Herbalife
provides over $3.2 million in funding and volunteer assistance to more than 130
organizations around the worldeach year, bringinggood nutrition to thousands of
children in orphanages, community centers and hospitals in over 50 countries
around the world.
