SM City Marikina’s Art for Everyone: Opening Doors to PWDs

by - August 29, 2018

The grand launch of Art for Everyone held last August 27, 2018 at SM City Marikina served as an eye-opener for me. I didn’t realize that a sector of our society, those person with disabilities (PWDs) could give me a whole new insight or perspective on them with the beautiful and noteworthy works of art they created.

The country’s biggest retail store, SM Supermalls, raise the bar anew in giving its customers a meaningful opportunity to bond with friends and family as they kick off Art for Everyone 2018, a selling exhibit that serves as a fun venue for artists to showcase and sell their artworks and masterpieces.

A worthy endeavor by SM Supermalls since 2016, Art for Everyone has been celebrating artist diversity – from budding artists, art enthusiasts, and hobbyists to renowned artists and art groups. And for the mallgoers, the art fair has been a delight and offer refreshing vibe in the malls with fun-filled art sale and exhibit.

This year, SM City Marikina in collaboration and support with SM Cares, focused on artworks of people with cognitive and physical disabilities. Together with partners Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, Autism Society Philippines, Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Mr. Ignacio Estrada and Tahanang Walang Hagdan, the works of these organizations and the mall aims to inspire others and collaborate leading to an inclusive society that we all aspire.

The official unveiling of the exhibit were graced by Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz, Arvin Ang, (SAVP for Marketing), Chito Bauzon (AVP for SM Cares), TJ Cuenca (Senior Asst. Vice President for Marketing of SM Supermalls), Francis Brian Cruz (SM City Marikina Mall Manager), April Anne Duanes (SM City Marikina Asst Mall Manager) and Chuck Reduta (Regional Operations Manager for SM Supermalls) among others.

For a week, SM City Marikina’s Art for Everyone exhibit aimed to share a renewed vision to further promote the local art scene and to support the upcoming Filipino artists. This week-long art fair invites everyone to discover art and to also get in touch with their artistic side and creativity through different art pieces.

Art for Everyone exhibits can also be seen in the following SM malls: Megamall, The Podium, Mall of Asia, Aura Premier, Southmall, Novaliches, San Jose Del Monte, Sta. Mesa, Angono, Marikina, Sucat, Muntinlupa, Cabanatuan, Telabastagan, Bacoor, Santa Rosa, Batangas, Lucena, Naga, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro Downtown.

SM City Marikina’s Art for Everyone exhibit will run from August 27 until August 31, 2018 at the mall Atrium.
