They’re missing their McDonald’s favorites just like you

Life as we know it has changed in just a short span of time. While leisure trips, meet-ups, and celebrations are limited at the moment, McDonald’s, with its recently launched Kita-Kits with McDo campaign, showed that spontaneous feel-good moments in the new normal are still very much possible!

Bringing a message of positivity, their Kita-Kits video reminds us that though we may not be able to experience our old routines, new memories can still be made anytime, anywhere with McDonald’s.

The video is set against the backdrop of the iconic song Kita-kits sa McDo originally sung by Sharon Cuneta, adding a hint of nostalgia that makes you look back at your favorite McDonald’s moments. Iconic as it is, celebrities Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Michael V., and Judy Ann Santos have caught the LSS bug and have shared their own rendition of the song on social media. You can check out the video of your favorite celebrities singing along to this the heart-warming tune!

McDonald’s, City of Pasig inks MOA From L-R (standing): McDonald’s Philippines HR Consultant Izza Sagmit, McDonald’s Philippines Senior Manager for Human Capital Group Tess Jadolco-Domingo, Department Of Labor and Employment - PAPAMAMARISAN Field Office Director Atty. Mary Grace L. Riguer, Pasig City District 1 Councilor Hon. Rhichie Gerard T. Brown, McDonald’s Philippines Chief Happiness Officer Ronald McDonald, Pasig City Vice Mayor Hon. Christian Bernardo, Pasig City District 2 Councilor Hon. Orlando Benito, Public Employment Service Office OIC Manager Jelene Sison, McDonald’s Philippines HR Manager for HR Consulting – North Region Gigi Ramos From L-R (sitting): McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth Yang, Pasig City Mayor Hon. Victor Ma. Regis Sotto

McDonald’s Philippines recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the Pasig City government, headed by Mayor Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Sotto, to extend employment opportunities to Pasigeño senior citizens (SCs) and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

In its bid to further promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, McDonald’s Philippines is committed in growing its alternative workforce by hiring at least two SCs and one PWD in 10 participating stores in the city.

The partnership will provide them the opportunity to earn while learning new skills, providing them the same world-class training which the company provides to all its directly hired employees.

Aside from the training program, approved by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Pasig, and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), qualified applicants will be entitled to a regular employee’s compensation, benefits, and a life insurance policy to be secured by the company.

“We are excited to have more senior citizens and PWDs assist in serving our customers as we have witnessed their potential, capabilities and commitment in providing great customer service. To date, we have over 60 senior citizens employed in different restaurants in Manila and as we welcome our Pasigeño senior citizens and PWDs, we look forward to expanding the alternative workforce and roll it out to more cities,” Yang said.

Under the agreement, hired SCs and PWDs will be assigned to perform tasks such as being an order presenter, drink drawer, table manager and overall guest relations.

Senior Citizens will be assigned work for not more than four hours per day for five days a week, with shifts set at 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Meanwhile, PWDs will perform work in shifts also applied to regular crew members, but not to exceed eight hours a day.

“The success of our people is our success. We are committed in their (senior citizens and persons with disabilities) training and development to ensure their growth in the company and as individuals,” Yang added.

In September, McDonald’s Philippines has also partnered with the City of Manila after Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso’s call for QSRs to hire SCs and PWDs in the country’s capital.

As Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines) recognizes the potential of Filipino students to make a good contribution to the society, they asked the City Government of Makati and with the Department of Education (DepEd) through the Schools Division Office of Makati City to allow them to hire senior students in their school through their Work Immersion Program (WIP).

The memorandum of agreement for this stint was already released and commits to train over 500 students from seven participating schools, including University of Makati, Fort Bonifacio High School, Pitogo High School, Nemesio Yabut High School, Maximo Estrella High School, Benigno Aquino High School, and Makati High School. Chosen students will be assigned across the 23 McDonald’s stores located within Makati City and some will also be assisting in the company’s head office to learn more about restaurant operations and gain firsthand experience and knowledge in the food industry.

SVP for Human Capital Group of McDonald’s Philippines Chona Torre talked about their mission to provide employment to more Filipinos, especially the youth, shared:“McDonald’s champions in youth employ ability and is committed to provide young Filipinos equal employment opportunities. Through this partnership, we aim to immerse students in a natural working environment where they can develop values, knowledge and basic competency skills that will be helpful in their future careers.” She also added, “We are excited to elevate the caliber of learning through these training opportunities that not only aim to improve the technical skills of students but impart the values of hard work and responsibility as well.”

Like the college on-the-job training, students they’ll hire will need to finish 80-hour of work as required by DepEd for graduation. Students taking the academic track as their major will be assigned to do corporate tasks in human resources, IT, and Finance. Meanwhile students under the technical vocational livelihood major with sub-specializations in cookery, bread and pastries, and food and beverage will be exposed in restaurant operations.

McDonald’s continues to be a committed to partner of the government in developing the youth and equipping them with the right skills as well as providing them with the experience they need in pursuing the careers they’ve chosen.

Apart from the Makati efforts, McDonald’s also recently sealed partnership with Mandaluyong City for WIP as well as with Manila City and Pasig City for persons with disability (PWD) and senior citizens (SC) employment.

Mcdonald’s has been serving the Filipino people since 1981 and has now become an advocate of equal employment. It has been practicing direct hiring policy or the non-practice of contractualization for all its restaurant employees.

As a child, I remember how my cousins and aunts used to gush over Sharon and Gabby, eventually I became a fan too. For me Sharon and Gabby is the epitome of perfect pair, they look so good together. Which I must add, is like McDonald’s Best Tasting Chicken McDo and its World Famous Fries. So how come I’m reminiscing about Sharon and Gabby and thinking of McDo’s Chicken and Fries? Well, the good news is, the two iconic Filipino showbiz personalities, Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion is together once more with McDonald’s latest TVC!.

Isn’t this so nakakakilig? These two pairs were the highlight of McDonald’s latest TVC, where we see “ShaGab” chancing upon each other in a McDonald’s store and enjoying a quiet meal together—their first after a very long time.

“Strikingly, there are many similarities between our Chicken McDo with Fries Meal and ShaGab. The Chicken McDo with Fries Meal is one of our best-sellers and has truly become a favorite of our customers over the years. In the same way, ShaGab is one of the most-loved tambalans all time, truly transcending generations,” shares Christina Lao, McDonald’s Marketing Director.

And just like Sharon and Gabby, who are popular in their own right but pack a more powerful punch when paired up, Filipinos love Chicken McDo and Fries separately, but even more so when enjoyed together in one complete meal experience.

Take McDonald’s Chicken McDo, juicy, tender, and cooked to golden perfection—delicious on its own but even more enjoyable with McDonald’s World Famous Fries, made with premium potatoes that are perfectly golden on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. You’re definitely in for a treat as you double your enjoyment with this complete chicken meal experience.

McDonald’s made the ShaGab comeback possible to let everyone appreciate what a perfect pair means—whether it’s their favorite stars or their favorite Chicken McDo and Fries combination.

Enjoy the perfect tandem of the Chicken McDo and World Famous Fries and enjoy watching watching the latest TVC starring Sharon and Gabby.

Grab this perfect pair via Dine-In, Drive-Thru or McDelivery!
