Adventures of a Diva Princess

In the past few days, photos and videos of matinee idol John Lloyd Cruz have been surfacing after being on hiatus from the showbusiness since 2017.

Cruz, one of the most bankable actors of the Philippine cinema and very effective endorser once again proved that his fans are still waiting for his return. In a teaser video, which lasted only for a few seconds and only shows the back shot of Cruz’s, and posted in the Facebook page of the number one selling shawarma Turks a few weeks ago had been viewed 3.2M times, shared almost 800 times and gained a huge number of comments.

Without any clue in that teaser video, his fans already assumed that it was him in the video. Actress Bea Alonzo on her Instagram also posted a screenshot of that teaser video, which garnered almost a million likes.

This Monday morning Turks finally revealed in the 1-minute and 17 seconds video of Cruz showing the actor walking through different destinations, which somehow depicts Cruz’s sojourn. The video is very simple, yet there’s drama the way it was created, and in a very subtle shot, he stopped and took a bite of a Turks pita donner.

The rugged look of Cruz in the Turks video titled Ang Pagbabalik is way too far from his guy-next-door image and a lot of people in the industry are asking if this signals his return to the limelight. His fans are still wondering about the life he’s been living since his hiatus.

According to Turks president Gem L. Zenarosa that during the course of his talks with Cruz, they never talked anything about his showbiz career or plans. He added that he got Mr. Cruz as the latest ambassador of Turks because of his great confidence working with Cruz.

“I am really grateful that John Lloyd trusts our company, he is a brilliant and very creative young man. Aside from acting we have discovered some of his remarkable talents,” Zenarosa stressed.

The Ang Pagbabalik according to Zenarosa is actually about Turks Small Pita Doner, which will be available again in all its branches.

“John Lloyd is the best endorser for this because like him, despite his absence in the showbusiness for a couple of years, the warmth and love of his fans for him never dwindles. With our Small Pita Doner we believe that our customers will be happy to know that it is back in our menu,” Zenarosa explained.

Just like Cruz who is seen to have a different image since he last appeared in the big screen, a clear indication that the actor is recreating himslef and exploring different grounds, Turks is also doing the same thing to keep its customers excited whenever they visit a branch.

In  time for the release of Cruz's endorsement video, Turks also released to the market its newest offering --- Turks Rice Bowl, which is a complete meal. You can choose beef or chicken for your rice topping, and it is priced at P50. The Small Pita Donner on the other hand, is priced at P35.

"To keep up with the demands of our customers, Turks continues to improve our menu and offerings to satisfy the discriminating taste of our loyal patrons," Zenarosa stressed.

John Lloyd Cruz now joins the roster of endorsers of Turks such as Piolo and Inigo Pascual.

Being a celebrity comes with a multitude of “rewards,” including fame, fortune, and countless public milestones. But for celebrity parents Aga and Charlene Muhlach, there’s no greater joy than being able to give their best for the twins, Atasha and Andres.

In a heartwarming new commercial for Jollibee, former beauty queen and renowned actress-host Charlene professes that her “greatest joy” in life are her twin children, who had grown up relatively away from the limelight.

The ad begins with Charlene getting up very early to get her twins ready for their various extra-curricular activities, and continue on with glimpses into her family’s life. She reads a heartfelt messagefor her children, expressing how she had dreamed of having them in her life and how she and husband Aga have always strived to give them the best.

“I can’t believe how time has just passed so fast, and totoopala ‘yungsabinila, that no matter how old you get, you’ll forever be babies in my eyes. I want you to know that we tried every day to give you the best at hindi kami magsasawangalagaan at mahalin kayo,”  —a sentiment that many parents can truly relate to.

The message that Charlene addresses to her children in this newest Jollibee ad is almost verbatim of her Instagram post on the twin’s birthday, which, as of the commercial’s release, garnered over 50,000 likes. As it was written straight from a thoughtful and well-spoken mother’s heart, the message became an instant hit among Filipino netizens who related to the emotions in Charlene’s post.

Aga, well-loved member of the Jollibee family, caps off the ad with another heartwarming sentiment—that we only want to give only the best for the best. The best people in our lives, our families, deserve only the best-tasting crispylicious, juicyliciousChickenjoy. The beloved Jollibee favorite that has captured the hearts and taste buds of Filipinos for generations.

“As the country’s biggestfast-food brand and a proudly homegrown Pinoycompany, we at Jollibee havealways strived atbeing the best in every way possible especially for our products,” saidCathleen Capati, Jollibee AVP for Flagship Category. “Chickenjoy and the role it plays in bringing Filipino families together, like the Muhlachshavingmeaningful familybonding momentsduring mealtimes, has been one of Jollibee’s greatest joys.”

Ms. Regine Velasquez, an institution in the country’s music industry has added another milestone in her life. This time, being an endorser of Jollibee, the country’s number one fast food chain. For Regine, this is a dream come true for her as she always wanted to be a Jollibee endorser and what made it more special is she get to do it with son Nate Alcasid.

Having been in the entertainment business for more than three decades, Regine have an illustrious entertainment career where she has done almost everything, including chart-topping singles and albums, blockbuster movies, high-rated TV shows, and sold-out concerts. But for the Asia’s Songbird-one of the very few who’s successfully juggled being a singer, actress, record producer, and TV host-there’s one role she loves best: being a mom to her six year-old son Nate.

Regine and Nate-who love to spend time just talking to one another about anything and everything under the sun-are the newest members of the Jollibee family and the stars of the latest heartwarming Jolly Spaghetti TV ad.

In the commercial, Regine revisits a familiar scene-a full concert auditorium with thousands of adoring fans-with a sweet-sarap surprise backstage for Nate. The ad goes on to show us special everyday moments between mother and son, with Regine narrating how being a mom has shed new light on day-to-day situations.

This is not the first time Regine and Nate worked on an endorsement together, but she believes that this one with Jollibee is the most special. “The storyboard is so touching and very personal. it shows my different roles as Regine, but it also shows that my greatest one is being a mom, which is the most difficult yet most fulfilling role I have to play,” Regine shared.

Just like real life Upon first review of the storyboard, Regine said: “Umiyak talaga ako. I said, “pinag-isipan talaga nila.” We never done anything like this, a commercial that celebrates my being a career woman and a mom.”

Asia’s Songbird also shared that this Jollibee ad is inspired by her real life and her thoughts about being a mom. “in the ad, there’s a line where I say “sa lahat ng kinantahan ko, ikaw lang ‘ang nakatulog.” That’s true talaga! He really sleeps whenever I sing to him. It’s like they captured our real lives!” she said.

Another scene in the commercial that made Regine emotional is when she sings the lines “Pangako magmula ngayon, tayong dalawa ang magkasama,” which is lifted from one of her platinum hits “Pangako.” This song holds special meaning to the songstress as it was composed by her husband Ogie Alcasid.

Sweet-Sarap bonding moments

Since she gave birth to Nate in 2011, Regine has slowed down her professional life to spend more time with her son. The first seven years are the most crucial to a child’s development, as studies show, and the Songbird is determined to make the most of it.

One of their favorite bonding activities is to talk to each other before bed. “He always has a lot of kwento for me at night,” Regine said. “He would always say. “Mommy, last kwento,” but this last story would go on for 20 minutes! But honestly, that’s the highlight of my day. He really loves talking.”

“We also play with toys but they’re not really toys,” Nate shared. “It’s called amenities!“

“He loves hotel supplies like toothbrushes,” Regine explains. “So one time when l was traveling, I brought everything back home to him. He was so happy, akala mo binigyan ko ng special gift. To him, it was really special because he knows I remembered him. I then realized, you can buy your child all the toys you can think of, but what they really want is more time with you.”

Regine’s realization is not lost on Nate, who-despite his parents’ celebrity status-prefers simple bonding activities like going on picnics and playing with Regine and Ogie. To make these bonding moments even sweeter and more fun, there’s always the sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti to bring more flavor to the Alcasid family’s special time together.

“When it’s time for merienda, he would say “i want one Jolly Spaghetti, two Chickenjoy legs, and two fries.” When I’m not at home, he would ask to order Jollibee and pay for it with his own money! Hindi niya ako hihintayin!” Regine candidly shared.

“The Jolly Spaghetti is so yummy!” the six-year-old exclaimed. “its sweet and cheesy and I can eat a lot of it!”

It’s no wonder why Nate-and other Pinoy kids-love Jolly Spaghetti. The al dente noodles are topped with Jollibee‘s unique sweet-sarap sauce, meaty hotdog slices, and a generous sprinkling of grated cheese.

“The Jolly Spaghetti’s unique sweet-sarap, flavors have always had a distinctive place in the hearts of Filipino kids and kids-at-heart, because moments spent with loved ones over a plate of Jolly Spaghetti are made sweeter, more fun, and more special,” said Cathleen Capati, Jollibee Marketing Director. “Regine and Nate’s story is not only heartwarming but also relatable to millions of Filipinos.”

Like Regine and Nate, make your family bonding moments more special with the sweet-sarap na walang katulad Jolly Spaghetti. The Jolly Spaghetti Solo retails for only P50.00* and the Jolly Spaghetti Family Pan (good for four to five persons) for P199.00*. As a child, I remember how my cousins and aunts used to gush over Sharon and Gabby, eventually I became a fan too. For me Sharon and Gabby is the epitome of perfect pair, they look so good together. Which I must add, is like McDonald’s Best Tasting Chicken McDo and its World Famous Fries. So how come I’m reminiscing about Sharon and Gabby and thinking of McDo’s Chicken and Fries? Well, the good news is, the two iconic Filipino showbiz personalities, Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion is together once more with McDonald’s latest TVC!.

Isn’t this so nakakakilig? These two pairs were the highlight of McDonald’s latest TVC, where we see “ShaGab” chancing upon each other in a McDonald’s store and enjoying a quiet meal together—their first after a very long time.

“Strikingly, there are many similarities between our Chicken McDo with Fries Meal and ShaGab. The Chicken McDo with Fries Meal is one of our best-sellers and has truly become a favorite of our customers over the years. In the same way, ShaGab is one of the most-loved tambalans all time, truly transcending generations,” shares Christina Lao, McDonald’s Marketing Director.

And just like Sharon and Gabby, who are popular in their own right but pack a more powerful punch when paired up, Filipinos love Chicken McDo and Fries separately, but even more so when enjoyed together in one complete meal experience.

Take McDonald’s Chicken McDo, juicy, tender, and cooked to golden perfection—delicious on its own but even more enjoyable with McDonald’s World Famous Fries, made with premium potatoes that are perfectly golden on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. You’re definitely in for a treat as you double your enjoyment with this complete chicken meal experience.

McDonald’s made the ShaGab comeback possible to let everyone appreciate what a perfect pair means—whether it’s their favorite stars or their favorite Chicken McDo and Fries combination.

Enjoy the perfect tandem of the Chicken McDo and World Famous Fries and enjoy watching watching the latest TVC starring Sharon and Gabby.

Grab this perfect pair via Dine-In, Drive-Thru or McDelivery!

Since their release, the KwentongJollibee Valentine viral videos - “Vow”, “Crush”, and “Date” - that celebrate the different forms of love and the joy that comes with it, have gotten millions of people in tears, feeling hurt, heartbroken, confused, hopeful, and happy. But the stories have also broken the internet, as it spread like wildfire, with viewers, not only Filipinos, expressing and sharing their reactions online.

Even foreign YouTube vloggers (video bloggers) couldn’t escape the phenomenal reach of Jollibee’s viral shorts. When vlogger-couple HugKnucklesTV and HottSamn! reviewed the digital commercials, both were clearly moved by each story. “I got goose bumps and it like crushed me,” said HugKnucklesTVwho got emotional upon watching “Vow”, while HottSamn! was in tears as she felt upset.

Watching “Crush” also got the vloggerscheering, as they hoped for a happier ending. “I’m so happy he got the girl in this one,” said HugKnucklesTV, while HottSamn! who did not see the twist coming, had tears of joy for the heroes of the love story. Both also poked fun on the burger gesture and mentioned that they will be completely okay with that in real life. After watching “Date”, the couple was visibly shocked by the heart-wrenching twist. “This is the first reaction (video) that I’ve done that has elicited tears,” admitted HugKnucklesTV.

Other reaction videos released by YouTube vloggers also captured the emotions evoked by the three Kwentong Jollibee commercials. Josh Dove, who was clearly clueless on what he was about to watch, clearly felt confused and lost upon seeing “Vow”, while “Date” caught him off guard. “That last video (Date) hit me with the feels and I was not expecting it.”

For Swedish vlogger, Petra Reacts, despite ending up in tears, she regarded the videos as “beautiful but sad”, ultimately commending Jollibee for its smart, emotional approach. “It was such a brilliant idea for a commercial. Making people feel something,” she said.

On the other hand, vlogger Terrence Jr. walked out after watching “Vow”, as he was deeply affected by the story’s twist. “That’s life. Sometimes the person you’re meant to be with just doesn’t go your way,” he added.

Despite the mixed reactions, the vloggers gave a nod to Jollibee as they never expected to watch something as touching from a restaurant commercial, let alone a Filipino fast-food retail brand. “It was great and whoever is in charge of their marketing is next level,” said HugKnucklesTV, while Petra Reacts acknowledged Jollibee as “a very smart company because this is rare.”

In a similar manner, a high school teacher in the United States also recorded his students’ reaction upon watching “Vow”. And when the twist came, the students’ reactions were just as how first-time viewers responded—shocked, in-denial, and hurt. But in the end, they all realized that what matters is the joy that is felt during the special moments of love.

Indeed, true stories of love are part of the many formulas that could instantly trigger an overwhelming flow of emotions, especially for many Filipinos. For people abroad, just as how HugKnuckle described one story as something that “came out of nowhere”, the series is also testament on how impactful a Filipino brand could be, not only as a fast-food chain that serves-up a langhap-sarap taste of home, but also for the heartwarming messages it communicates with its consumers.

On Facebook and YouTube combined,“Vow” has about 14.6 million views, “Crush” with about 13.7 million, while “Date” has more than 10.2 million. All three commercials have also trended worldwide, even on World Pizza Day, with “Vow” and “Date” becoming the number one trending videos on YouTube since their release.

One of the things that irks me especially during dining out is seeing several diners, mostly family being glued to their mobile phones instead of talking among each other. Nowadays, with the wave of exciting technological innovations and new apps, these people are becoming more preoccupied with their gadgets. Whether it means replying to important work emails, keeping attuned to the latest updates on social media, or fighting off and catching virtual monsters, this new normal of being glued to our screens has kept us from experiencing important and joyous face-to-face moments with family members and loved ones.

Bringing joy to the table

Jollibee, the country’s number one fast food brand, recognizes this new reality and is encouraging Filipino families to bring joy back to their tables with the best-tasting crispylicious, juicylicious, and gravylicious Chickenjoy through a new TV commercial entitled “Bunso.”

The TVC gives viewers a glimpse of a typical modern Pinoy family’s day. In the video, the youngest daughter—the adorable bunso—wants to play and spend time with her father and siblings. However, Ate and Kuya are busy updating social media accounts and playing games, while Dad is in the middle of an important work call. Watch the adorable video directly from Jollibee’s Facebook page or below:

Bunso appears to sadly wonder—through a softhearted rendition of the OPM classic “Ewan”—why it is difficult to talk to her family. “Mahirap kausapin at ‘di pa namamansin,” Bunso laments. “’Di mo ba alam, ako’y nasasaktan?”

Just when the bunso was about to feel dismayed, her face lights up as Mom enters with a bucket of Chickenjoy for the family. As soon as Mom and bunso lift the bucket’s lid, the aroma draws the rest of the family to the dining table. Gadgets are temporarily set aside and the whole family gathers around their favorite Jollibee meal for a joyful quality time together.

“Technology has allowed us to stay up-to-date with whatever’s happening all over the world,” said Kent Mariano, Jollibee Philippines AVP for Marketing. “But despite the many benefits of being online all the time, sometimes technology makes us forget the important things that are also right in front of us. That’s why we must also remember to pause once in a while and savor the joy of missing out on gadgets and devices to enjoy personal face-to-face connections with our loved ones. This is the message we hope to share in our newest Chickenjoy TVC.”

“For years, Jollibee and our best-tasting Chickenjoy have remained committed to making family bonding moments more delicious, unforgettable, and joyful,” Mariano added. “There’s no better place to start than at the dining table, the very heart of the Pinoy home.”
