Adventures of a Diva Princess


Starting October 28, commuters from San Mateo, Rizal will enjoy a new transport option as SM City San Mateo opens a terminal for UV Express trips bound for Cubao and Montalban.

The terminal, located at the transport bay in front of the mall, offers two routes particularly, SM City San Mateo to Cubao (vice versa) and SM City Cubao to Montalban Eastwood (vice versa).

The terminal’s trips for the Cubao route will start at 5AM until 10PM from Sunday to Thursday, and 5AM to 11PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Trips for the Montalban Eastwood route, on the other hand, will start at 2PM until 10PM from Sunday to Thursday, and 2PM to 11PM from Friday to Saturday.

The terminal is currently on a one-month trial stage and will run from October 28 until November 28.

SM Supermalls has won the Most Honored Organization Grand Stevie Award, the most coveted award given by the prestigious Stevie Awards, which recognizes outstanding businesses for creating innovations in the work place. 

The leading developer and operator of malls in the Philippines and one of the biggest in Southeast Asia, SM Supermalls garnered a total of 67 award points which enabled it to clinch the illustrious award. SM Supermalls won 45 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards – out of the 104 wins bagged by Philippine companies and out of more than 900 nominations for innovative achievements in the entire Asia-Pacific region this year.

The esteemed award is just the latest achievement in a roster of SM Supermalls’ milestones this year, including a recent win at the 2019 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards (Stevies) with a total of 45 awards, more than any other Philippine company this year.

SM City San Mateo bagged one (1) Silver trophy in the prestigious 2019 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards for Summer Mess Fest for Innovation in Entertainment Events Category.

It was among the forty-five Stevie Awards bagged by SM Supermalls that garnered the company with the most coveted Grand Stevie for Most Honored Organization.

SM’s 45 Asia Pacific Stevies included 2 gold, 24 silver, and 19 bronze awards. With this, SM bested its own record and won more than twice of its Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards last year. In 2018, SM won 21 Stevies.

The Stevie Award has been conferred for achievement in business to organizations and individuals in more than 60 nations since 2002 with panel of judges that is comprised of more than a thousand of the most reputable professionals, entrepreneurs, and business educators worldwide.

The 2019 Asia Pacific Stevie Awards Gala was on May 31 at the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore.

Students from Taytay Senior High School, University of Rizal System – Angono, University of Rizal System – Taytay, University of Rizal System – Cainta, College of Arts and Sciences of Asia and the Pacific – Taytay, Dolores Elementary School, Muzon Elementary School, Pamahalaang Barangay Dolores - Taytay, Rizal, Pamahalaang Barangay San Isidro - Taytay, Rizal, Pamahalaang Barangay San Juan - Taytay, Rizal and Regional Lead School for the Arts flocked to SM City Taytay for the Brillante Mendoza Film Festival which aimed to redefine cinema to the new generation with Director Brillante Mendoza’s knowledge and experience in filmmaking.

At the film festival, two movies helm by Internationally-acclaimed Director Brillante Mendoza which is Panata and Kadaugan were shown to the very enthusiastic students. These two are part of the cultural movies that Mendoza made for TV5,



Afterwards, Director Brillante Mendoza gave his view in Film Making and discussed the behind the scenes footages of the movies that were shown explaining that for each movie is a backdrop of our country’s famous festival - Marinduque’s colorful Moriones Festival for Panata and Kadaugan sa Mactan Festival in Cebu. One of the interesting facts shared by Director Mendoza during the Q and A is about the movie “Kadaugan” which script is written entirely in Filipino but was filmed in Cebuano. He also said that he employed an entire Cebuano staff for this movie.


Director Mendoza also gave pointers on the comprehensive aspects of film-making as asked by the students which includes his views on film direction, screenplay, cinematography and production design. Mendoza is also known for his advocacies and incorporating social issues in all his films which he does to encourage the probing and critical thinking skills of the movie-goers.

The Brillante Mendoza Film Festival is a joint project of Centerstage Productions and SM City Taytay.

The rain didn’t stop the shoppers from witnessing the grand launch of ColorGram pop up exhibit last July, 20 2018 at the 2nd level of SM City San Mateo.

In partnership with Davies Paint, Sm City San Mateo put up colorful photo stations where shoppers can pose in and take cool insta-worthy photos to share on their social media accounts.

Made up of colored walls and mood backgrounds, SM shoppers is in for a more colorful shopping experience where the only thing to do is just get yourself ready to achieve that ultimate #FeedGoals as you pose at ColorGram. Truly it is the perfect destination to liven up your IG feed.

The kickoff party for the exhibit happened last Friday, complete with fun music and pocket denim-styling session on the side. Teen celebrity Trina Legaspi hosted the exhibit launch, while social media influencers joined in on the fun by getting creative with their cameras and exploring the beautiful backdrops SM City San Mateo offers.

The picture-worthy ColorGram pop up exhibit will run from July 20 – 29 at the 2nd level of SM City San Mateo.

Halfway past through the summer and the heat intensifies as SM City Marikina hold the slimiest, gooiest, messiest fun-filled weekend last May 5 and 6! Dubbed the Summer Mess Fest, it was the ultimate PLAY for the entire family as they embrace the mess for two hours and played with water and colors.


During the two-day mess run, children and adults alike who registered by simply presenting P1,000 worth of receipt from any establishment of SM City Marikina, enjoyed the messy play. Even adults who have no intention to get messy just decided to enjoy the messy activities after being doused and splashed with water and they decided it was indeed fun.



Almost everyone gets to enjoy SPLISHING and SPLASHING in foam or being water gunned with colourful water. Some got pie faced with gooey things and the brave ones SLIP 'N SLIDE with colors in the giant Messy SLIDE of Fun. It was so popular that there’s always a long line in front of it.










For the creative ones, they get to enjoy the kinetic sand or splatting their hands with paints on the art wall. Also popular is taking your selfies or groufies while the bubble maker throws hundred of bubbles for that magical bubble-filled photos.





It was indeed one messy weekend at SM City Marikina and several children doesn’t want it to end and even cried just to be left behind and stay inside.

Next weekend, May 12, the Summer Mess Fest will be in SM City San Mateo. So, get ready and simply present P1,000 worth of receipt from any establishment of SM City San Mateo to register.

After the messy activities, we head on to Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and stuffed ourselves with their popular dish on the menu. Always, their customized sauces are the best in town!

SM Supermalls advocacy of bringing people and art together has been most evident in the various cultural roadshow held in many of its stores. Last September 1, 2017, “My City, My SM, My Art” officially kicked-off at SM City San Mateo to celebrate the visual arts — painting, printmaking, sculpture, film-making , and photography.


This year’s highlights of “My City, My SM, My Art” at SM City San Mateo showcases the works of the Samahan ng mga Litratista sa Rizal (SLR), Franz Marion Vocalan, Rembrandt Vocalan, Edrick Daniel, Don Kishin Javier, Lucky Salayog, Daniel Aligaen, and the multi-talented Blanco family.

Angono, being the art capital of the country has produced art progenies famous not only in the country.Among them are:

Samahan ng mga Litratista sa Rizal 

The Samahan ng mga Litratista sa Rizal is one of the most dynamic camera clubs in the country. They believe in the power of communicating through lens and they aim to showcase the Philippines to the rest of the world.



Franz Marion Vocalan

A member of the traditional Angono folk art family, Franz Marion Vocalan, creates lively contemporary images in large canvases. His paintings show his daringness to use different range of colors. It also exudes a sense of playfulness displaying comic fantasies that viewers can relate to.


Rembrandt Vocalan

His very name invokes one of the best artist the world has. Rembrandt Vocalan works is usually done in bold and warm hues which centers on folk images highlighting his cultural identity. He also ventured into printmaking and photography as well as holds art workshop for the younger generation.


Edrick Daniel

Edrick Daniel is one of the young artists from Antipolo. Edrick is an artist who uses props such as boats, roses, eyes, tongues, birds, butterflies, moon, black water, suit case, animals and figures floating through the air and conjunctions of seemingly unrelated objects to create moods in his works. Most of them is rendered on subdued colors which results in compelling visual narratives that stirs the emotion.


Aside from his mother and cousin, he also come from the tutelage under other artists at Dr. Guanang’s residence which is now famously known as the Pinto Art Museum.

Don Kishin Javier

Don Kishin Javier creates one-of-a-kind sculptures made from wire strands which he elaborately twist and bend. He also incorporate the element of wood, resin and rocks in his arts.
Lucky Salayog is a self-taught sculptor who can transfor metals such as old chains, wheels, motors, doorknobs and hinges into metal art pieces. Lucky’s works are especially known for being meticulously assembled pieces of kinetic art.


Daniel Aligaen

Daniel Aligaen is a Sangviaje artist currently making waves in the local art scene. Daniel employs images from pop culture and religion to deliver his grand vision on the meaning of life and existence. His works is usually marked by intricate details and geometric shapes using visual allusion.


Blanco Family - The Family That Paints Together

The multi-talented Blanco family is famous in the art world. And it is by miracle of art genes that Jose "Pitok" Blanco and his children Glenn, Noel, Michael, Joy, Jan, Gay and Peter Paul also paints. Each have their genre but also uses bold colors and hues showcasing Filipino lives and culture.
