Adventures of a Diva Princess

The expanded partnership between of Tap DMV and WWE (NYSE: WWE) has given the WWE Universe here in the Philippines a reason to celebrate with its recently announced partnership that will broadcast WWE’s weekly longest running episodic show, Monday Night RAW and its UK’s developmental brand, NXT UK via TapGo, Tap DMV’s new subscription video-on-demand service.

To celebrate the partnership between Tap DMV and WWE, both companies hosted a roundtable discussion earlier with the former WWE United States Champion and currently one half of the reigning RAW Tag Team Champions, WWE Superstar, Riddle.

During the discussion, Riddle talks about how he is loving WWE. Despite being new and how he's still at the beginning of his run, he has done a lot of great stuff and lot of cool things already. He's been the United States champion and now he's tag teaming as RK-Bro with Randy Orton. Currently, they are the WWE RAW Tag Team Champion.

Riddle is one of the most charismatic Superstars right now in WWE. His carefree and lax demeanor are usually overlooked by his opponents that leaves them surprised when he finally uses his arsenal of strikes and submissions.

The Original Bro exploded into the scene by using his background in Mixed Martial Arts to take control of his opponents with his striking and grappling expertise. During his run in NXT, Riddle was able to dominate the tag team division with Pete Dunne in where they won the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classics. In a span of less than 3 weeks after winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classics, Riddle and Pete Dunne were able to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship by defeating The Undisputed ERA.

Since his move to the main roster, Riddle has won the United States Championship and is now sitting on top of the RAW Tag Team division alongside The Viper, Randy Orton as the reigning, defending, WWE RAW Tag Team Champions.

Career Highlights

Raw Tag Team Champion, United States Champion; 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winner; NXT Tag Team Champion

Despite the name, Riddle isn’t someone to play with.

Sure, the seemingly carefree grappler battles in the ring barefoot – with a pair of flip-flops nearby, of course – and carries around a lax demeanor that unsuspecting opponents might scoff at. This Riddle, however, is wrapped in an arsenal of surprises. Equipped with a dangerous cache of maneuvers, whether it be a canvas-rattling exploder suplex or his wince-inducing Bromission, the rangy striker is a man of many stylistic flourishes.

This incredible versatility, as well as his reputation as a top striker and submission artist, helped The Original Bro explode onto the scene when he arrived in WWE via an introduction by WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. The former NXT Tag Team Champion quickly found himself embroiled in rivalries with the likes of AJ Styles and King Corbin. Making his way to Raw by way of the 2020 WWE Draft, Riddle looks to realized his full potential and supersede the feats left in his rear-view mirror.

At WWE Elimination Chamber, Riddle captured his first singles title in WWE by overcoming titleholder Bobby Lashley and John Morrison in a Triple Threat Match to win the United States Championship.

Recently, Riddle has formed an alliance with Randy Orton and seemingly believes that Rated RK-Bro is destined for greatness. And that belief paid off in BROtastic fashion when he and The Viper captured the Raw Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam 2021.

Grab a box of “Bro-nuts,” sit back and just watch how far he’ll go.

WWE SmackDown! makes its return to the Philippines with a star-studded show at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, September 20th, 2019. Among the matches announced, alongside a Wrestlemania XXXV rematch, is an epic encounter between second-generation Superstar, Charlotte Flair and the current WWE SmackDown! Women’s Champion, Bayley.

Both women, together with Sasha Banks and current Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, make-up the Four Horsewomen. Their honor, passion, and skill gave way to the Women’s Revolution: a movement that legitimized the presence of women’s wrestling on a global stage. What was once regarded as an entertaining break between important matches has become a main event staple!

Early Beginnings of Women’s Wresting

Women’s wrestling dates back to the late 19th century. By 1937, Mildred Bourke rose to prominence as one of sports-entertainment’s most recognized talents, setting the pace for other women in the decades to come including WWE Hall of Famer, Mae Young.

In the 1980’s, as sports-entertainment reached global heights, women’s wrestling was firmly cemented as a popular attraction with fans. Cyndi Lauper’s collaborations with Hall of Famer, Captain Lou Albano, set the stage for the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection that established stars such as former WWE Women’s Champion, Wendi Richter. At the same time, the sudden prominence of future WWE Legends such as Hulk Hogan and “Macho Man” Randy Savage introduced the world to valets such as Miss Elizabeth and “Sensational” Sherri.

The Age of Divas

By the turn of the century, the women of the WWE were regarded as pop culture icons known the world over as Divas. Led by the likes of Trish Status and Lita, the Divas of the WWE were beautiful and skilled sports-entertainers who consistently set the bar each time they entered the squared circle. In December 2004, Stratus and Lita made history when they collided on the main event of Monday Night Raw in a highly-revered classic for the WWE Women’s Championship.

As the decade progressed, the WWE Universe would see a number of popular Divas establish themselves with a string-of must see performances across WWE’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown!. Unfortunately by 2012, most of the WWE’s most proficient in-ring Divas had retired from active competition and because of that, younger Divas did not have the opportunity to truly showcase their skill.

The Women’s Revolution & Evolution

In 2012, WWE established NXT as a system to introduce new talent before their main roster debut. That same year, veteran performer Sara Del Rey was signed to oversee the development of younger talent. Together, the combination would provide female sports-entertainers with the chance to showcase their skill before an eager and welcoming audience. Within a year, NXT would crown its first Women’s Champion in Paige, The “Anti-Diva”.

Later on, after Paige’s main roster breakthrough, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks would establish themselves as NXT’s most popular performers with their seemingly endless back-to-back streaks of show-stealing classics. In time, they were recognized as The Four Horsewomen of NXT; a standard of excellence inspired by The Four Horsemen, a legendary stable of elite sports-entertainers led by Charlotte’s father, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

By 2016, each of the Four Horsewomen had made it to the WWE’s main roster. Following a string of consecutive Wrestlemania classics and the call-up of additional talent from NXT, the WWE was now supported by a diverse cast that showcased the best female talent from every corner to the world.

Today, women are now at the forefront of sports entertainment. The last three years have seen a number of historical changes in the WWE that included an annual Women’s Royal Rumble match, the Mae Young Classic, and Evolution, the first all-women pay-per-view event. 2019 saw the biggest change yet when Becky Lynch captured both the SmackDown! and Raw Women’s Championship belts from Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at the main event of Wrestlemania XXXV!

WWE Universe in the Philippines, we are just days away from the biggest sports-entertainment spectacular this year as the Superstars of WWE SmackDown! invade the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, September 20th, 2019!

For many, this will be their first time attending a WWE event in person. And while it can be overwhelming, each show promises an evening of fun and excitement for fans of all ages. So, here’s a quick guide for fans watching their first WWE Live show!

Find the Right Seat for Your Budget

Finding the right seat is a matter of balancing your budget and knowing how close you want to be to the action. The Smart Araneta Coliseum is a very intimate venue, so you can expect a good seat no matter how close or how far you are from the ring. Sitting ringside ensures you’re close enough to all your favorite Superstars, while a farther seat leaves you with an amazing view of all the action. It’s all about the experience you want the most. Luckily, Ticketnet gives you a good idea of the view you’ll be paying for when you buy your tickets!

What’s Allowed at a WWE Live Event?

Each arena has its own policies that the WWE Universe has to adhere to. The Smart Araneta Coliseum prohibits professional and video cameras, along with laser pens, sharp objects, umbrellas, large bags, and backpacks. So make sure to pack only the bare essentials in a tote bag when watching WWE Live!

Can I Bring Signs?

Signs are a staple of WWE Live events around the world! And thankfully, signs are allowed at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, at the discretion of the personnel at the front. So before grabbing a marker, remember:

Don’t make it too large that it obstructs the view of the person behind you.

Make sure your sign represents a Superstar scheduled on the card. There’s no sense in making a sign for someone you won’t see in the ring that night!

Keep it respectful. Sure, you want to show the world how much you hate a certain WWE Superstar. But you’ll be around kids and their families. Do you really want to be “that guy” at a WWE Live show? Didn’t think so!

Save! Save! Save!

There’s nothing worse than going to a WWE event without any money in your pocket. No WWE Live experience wouldn’t be the same without the latest merch from the WWE Shop. And because you’re getting your merchandise straight from the source, you know that what you’re paying for is 100% authentic and at a fair price that beats most second-hand sellers out of the water. PHP3,500 is a safe amount to save. Aside from covering transportation and food expenses, you’re still left with enough to splurge on Superstar merch!

Have Fun!

Now that you’re inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum, it is time to put on the t-shirt of your favorite WWE Superstar and get ready for an action-packed night of sports entertainment.

WWE Live events are lively affairs that command the hearts of the thousands in attendance.

A WWE Live event differs significantly from what you normally see on TV. So elaborate sets and commentary are set aside for an experience that gives the WWE Universe exactly what they want. Examples can be found in the WWE Network such as WWE Live From Madison Square Garden, The Beast in The East, and Starrcade.

But just because you’re getting a stripped-down event, doesn’t mean surprises won’t occur. WWE Live Events are incredibly unpredictable: titles changes and other big surprises can happen. For instance: the last time WWE was in Manila, the second rope snapped during John Cena’s now-infamous battle against the Big Show.

So remember, anything can happen in the WWE!

On Friday September 20th, 2019, Roman Reigns makes his return to the Philippines together with the stars of WWE SmackDown!. Roman Reigns is living proof that you can’t keep a good man down. From his main roster debut as a member of The Shield, his multiple victories as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, to his fight with leukemia, Reigns has built his career on continuously overcoming the odds.

“I don’t want to stay in a box. I don’t want to stay backstage. I want to put my gear on: I want to wrestle, I want to perform,” shared Roman Reigns last April in an interview for WWE Chronicle, just moments before his Wrestlemania XXXV comeback. “I don’t care. I just want to be on the show. And along the way, I want to use this Wrestlemania-platform to create different opportunities for those who are in this struggle. Right now, it is just about enjoying these blessings that are put upon me.”

The Rise of a Champion

Born Joe Anoa’i, Roman Reigns has the blood of wrestling royalty flowing through his veins. The third-generation WWE Superstar is part of the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family that includes the likes of Yokozuna, Rikishi, Umaga, Jey and Jimmy Uso, Afa and Sika Anoa’i (The Wild Samoans), “High Chief” Peter Maivia, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In 2007, shortly after having been signed to the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, Reigns was first diagnosed with leukemia and released from his contract. Despite the disease being in remission, Reigns retired two years later following a year spent competing for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

The following year, Reigns signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. Reigns was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where he trained with future stablemates, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

“I firmly believe that I was here because my family is a wrestling family, and I’m a wrestler and that’s what I’m going to do. But little did I know all this wrestling stuff, all this sports entertainment stuff, was to get to this point: to truly help people. And why not start with young children who are in the most intense fight that any human can imagine?” said Reigns.

The Rise of the Big Dog

In late 2012, Roman Reigns made his debut on the WWE’s main roster as part of The Shield: a three-man power team that destroyed every single WWE Superstar in their sight. Over the next two years, The Shield would accumulate a string of hard-fought victories against the likes of Kane, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.

“The Shield: that’s our baby,” said Reigns. “If I didn’t have The Shield, I don’t think anyone would have cared about me. There’s a lot of things that The Shield did for me, Seth, and Dean.”

For the WWE Universe, The Shield was a sign of things to come. They were the faces of a new generation of sports entertainers who were valued for their outstanding athleticism and commitment to their craft. Reigns stood out from the competition as a hungry and fearless powerhouse who would stop at nothing to put his opponents away with his patented Superman Punch.

Much like John Cena before him, Roman Reigns’ immediate success came at the ire of many fans who spared no expense to show their dissatisfaction. And yet, despite the overwhelming negativity he faced each week, Reigns pushed on and became a three-time holder of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt.

Overcoming Leukemia

On October 22nd, 2018, Roman Reigns announced that he was battling leukemia on Monday Night Raw. Shortly after relinquishing the WWE Universal Championship, Reigns began treatment. Having overcome the disease in the past, he forced himself to keep a positive outlook through his faith. “I think life experiences molds and crafts people the way they are. As soon as you front up adversity and if you do beat it, you don’t dwell on it- you move on. Life just keeps going.”

Reigns soon found support as the WWE Universe around the world showered him with prayers and well wishes. On February 25th, Roman Reigns returned to Monday Night Raw to announce that his leukemia was in remission. Within weeks, Reigns was back in active competition once again as a member of The Shield.

“When your life gets upside down, you start to cherish things a little more. And I knew when I came back that it was one thing I wanted to do: if I wanted to have a moment with my two best friends in the world, this was the time.”

Roman Reigns’ Inspiring Return
The time away from the ring allowed Roman Reigns to reflect on his blessings and support children battling leukemia. “As a WWE character, I’m there to help create that escapism. To help create that 15-minutes where these kids don’t have to worry about what’s going on with them. They can pull themselves out of their day and just get lost in the moment. And now, I feel like I’m fulfilling a fuller life. I’m doing what’s awesome, and what’s really fun, and creating magic on-screen with people I love, in front of people I love.”

With a starring role in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Roman Reigns’ is stronger and more determined than ever. To WWE fans all over the world, Roman Reigns represents the will to live and the struggle against adversity, regardless of the odds.

Roman Reigns returns to Manila with the Superstars of WWE SmackDown! on Friday, September 20th, 2019, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, in Quezon City. Tickets are now available at all Ticketnet outlets nationwide and on https://www.ticketnet.com.ph!
