ICATS Holds Year 2 of Donate Blood Save L.I.F.E. Campaign

by - October 12, 2018

September 28, 2018 marked a very important day for International Cabin Attendant Training School (ICATS) as they hold Year 2 of their Bloodletting event in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross. This year’s theme is “Share the gift of life,” and its aim is to promote awareness about blood donation and its importance in preserving life.

Held at their office at Unit 907-A East Tower of the Philippine Stock Exchange Center, ICATS marketing head Lou Aseron shared, “The event is part of our corporate social responsibility and is our way of giving back to the community. We invite everyone to join this worthwhile endeavor. This is your chance to help others and feel good at the same time.”

The bloodletting event is an important advocacy especially to ICATS president and chief executive officer Princess Joy Garcia, who at one point in her life needed blood when her brother got into an accident. She never forgets the time Red Cross helped her family and she made a vow to give back through this worthwhile activity.

Although those who joined the bloodletting for great cause still an incentive was given to those who became a donor. Each donor automatically joins the company’s raffle draw and get a chance to win P5,000 worth of gift vouchers from Aliah Travel and Tours.

It was also during a press conference held that day that ICATS officers laid out their plans for ICATS future as the premier flight attendant’s school in the country. Red Cross guests were also asked the do’s and don’ts of donating blood as well as the requirements when donating one.

Donors must be between 18 to 60 years old, weigh at least a 110 pounds or about 50 kilograms, and have a normal body temperature. They should have a blood pressure of 90 – 160/60 - 100 mmHg and a pulse rate between 50 to 200 beats per minute. They must also pass a routine check for hemoglobin. Teenagers as young as 16 can donate blood if they are allowed by their parents.

ICATS really made a difference that day as they donate blood and help others live.
