Over 300 Unite for a Meaningful Independence Day in SM Baliwag
It is a celebration of patriotism, history
and culture as SM City Baliwag stand with the nation in the commemoration of
121st Philippine Independence Day.
Igniting the celebration were over 300 contingents
including men in uniform who shared their talents and skills in troop
demonstration on one unique occasion. Present on the ceremony are troops from Armed
Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire, Bureau
of Jail Management and Penology, Baliwag Traffic Management Office, Municipal
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
The 48 Infantry Battalion imparted their
skills in squad demo, giving audience an overview of their gears and
preparation in time of battle.
Troop from AFP’s 48 IB Band also proved
their talent beyond battlefield through their timely performance of the popular
OPM song Bandila. Viewers and guests
were also inspired as they sang their momentous piece Sundalo.

City Baliwag welcome Independence with a meaningful presentation of Baliuag’s
pride- the Rondalla Performers by Cuerdas Music & Arts Center with their
performance of the Philippine Nation Anthem followed by special folk songs
through the accompaniment of their cuerdas
or stringed instruments.
To engage shoppers on the
country’s rich culture and tradition, SM City Baliwag, brought
to life some of popular Filipino games, through an imaginative Pop Art
Installation that gave a playful take on the traditional Pinoy sports such as
sepak takraw, sipa, palo sebo, luksong baka, and saranggola. The Pop Art
Filipino Game were showcased through dimensional figures of Pinoy kids at play.
“We hope to impart the valuable Filipino traits to
the new generation through our centerpieces,” said SM City Baliwag Assistant
Mall Manager Rodora Tolentino. She shared that the mall’s Pop Art displays
Filipino’s teamwork, resilience and camaraderie; qualities that contributed to
our freedom.
SM Center Pulilan likewise promoted Filipino pride with a colorful presentation of
Bulacan’s famous Fiestas. The Kneeling Carabao, Buntal, Singkaban and Obando
Feast were interpreted through a modern centerpiece located at the mall atrium.
The Philippine
Independence Day is celebrated simultaneously in all SM Supermalls.
