Mang Inasal’s 500th store, which opened in June 2018, showcases the latest design that considers customer convenience, production efficiency, and an aesthetic sense that gives a provincial, homey grillery vibe.

Mang Inasal turns 15 this December.  Since it opened its first store in Iloilo in 2003, this quick service restaurant has grown from a local must-visit store to the favorite hangout of ‘solb’ eaters throughout the country.

‘Solb’ eaters are those who go for delicious, satisfying Chicken Inasal, without qualms of eating it with their bare hands and usually with unli rice, doused with their favorite mix of chicken oil, soy sauce, vinegar, calamansi and chili.

“Seeing solb eaters feast in a Mang Inasal store is such a heartwarming sight!” said Mang Inasal Strategic Business Unit Head Jojo P. Subido. “It validates all the hard work we have put into running a restaurant whose menu carries superior tasting food and whose crew go the extra mile in delighting the customers.”

Proud of its evolution

Looking back at how the business has evolved, Mang Inasal takes pride in becoming the leading grilled chicken based on occasion and value shares in Metro Manila’s branded eat out category, a claim supported by a recent Kantar study.

“We are, indeed, very happy to note that Mang Inasal was able to reach this position,” Subido said. “We could not have done it without the support of all our valuable stakeholders – from franchisees and employees to our suppliers and customers.

“We cannot thank you enough for all your support through the years. With our continued partnership, we look forward to more milestones to achieve, both here and abroad,” Subido said.

Among the businesses under the Jollibee Foods Corporation, Mang Inasal is one of those who have grown significantly.

Team spirit and customer focus

“Teamwork drove such growth, the same spirit that enabled the Company to overcome the usual challenges confronting startups,” Subido shared.

“We painstakingly established a customer-centric mindset across our organization that prompted everyone to strictly comply with standards of food quality, workplace safety, and responsive service,” Subido said.

By setting in place an organization that provided strong manufacturing, restaurant services, and research and development support, Mang Inasal was likewise able to continually develop the consistent superior quality and taste of its flagship products -- Chicken Inasal and Pinoy Halo-Halo -- and elevate the customers' experience with the Brand.

Sustained business partnership

Mang Inasal also helped strengthen the capabilities of its partner Franchisees – who comprise 95 percent of the Company’s network of stores which this year, crossed the 500 mark. Apart from close coordination and monitoring, Mang Inasal saw to it that the Franchisees enjoy effective marketing, quality management and operational support.

In 2015 and 2017, respectively, Mang Inasal was recognized as the Outstanding Filipino Franchise in the Food Large Scale Category by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Philippine Franchise Association. Such feat earned for Mang Inasal a Hall of Fame distinction from the same award-giving organizations.

Perhaps the most tangible accomplishment of Mang Inasal is the improvement of its Brand image.
While it retained the same logo throughout the last 15 years to facilitate Brand recognition and recall, Mang Inasal did not leave any stone unturned in establishing solid positioning for its flagship and core products.

The irresistible claims of the “2-in-1 sa Laki, Nuot sa Ihaw Sarap” Chicken Inasal, the “So Creamy, So Sarap” Pinoy Halo-Halo, and the “Sizzling, Meaty Sarap” Pork Sisig further enticed the market not only to try these products, but to keep on coming back for more.

Strong brand image

Another factor, of course, has been the ‘unlimited rice’ offering that the customers have come to associate with dining at Mang Inasal.

Supported by deliberate, sustained, and integrated on-ground activations that engaged customers all throughout the archipelago, as well as the online promotions that captured the attention of Millennials and Generation Z netizens, Mang Inasal has become a leading player in the branded eat out category.
“We are happy to note that Mang Inasal is slowly getting to where it aspires to be: a strong national icon,” Subido said. “We still have so much to do but the formidable team spirit we share with our various stakeholders will see us through as we intend to stay in the market for the long haul!”

Mang Inasal intends to further expand its network and hit 1000 stores within the next five years, while maintaining a predominantly franchised mix. Also afoot are plans to enter the international market.

‘Tis the season for Christmas parties—and impressive production numbers to liven up the festivities.

In the latest episode of 14/29 Petsa de Peligro JolliSerye—Jollibee’s pioneering digital web series—the Happy Calendar House barkada is faced with another challenge that’s seemingly impossible to conquer during Petsa de Peligro. With VIP guests coming to the company’s Christmas party, and with all the party’s budget spent on decorations and lights and sounds, it got the barkada scrambling to find the best performers for the night’s entertainment.

Good thing that Nina, the “kikay-diva ng Accounting” and the person in charge of planning the party, knows two singers who fit the bill: Christina Aguilar and Britney Fierce, friends from her college singing group. Played by Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis respectively, these two characters bring next-level star power through memorable comedic and musical performances to Jollibee’s first-of-its-kind branded digital series.

“Sobrang nakakaaliw ang characters namin ni Anne dito sa JolliSerye,” shared Sarah. “First time ‘to na we got to work together, and I’m so thankful na sa ganitong project na very light, positive, and masaya.”

“Ang tagal ko nang gusto ma-invite as a guest star in JolliSerye! After seeing so many icons like Janno Gibbs, Jolina Magdangal, Gary Valenciano., Eugene Domingo, Cherie Gil, and James Reid play such hilarious characters that’s super well-written talaga, at the back of my mind I was wishing na sana ako naman,” Anne, who had a couple of hit online videos with Jollibee for her Linamnam Burger Steak endorsement, said. “And super swerte ko pa that I got to share an episode with the one and only Sarah Geronimo!”

From ads to longer-form content that expands brand stories

The 14/29 Petsa de Peligro JolliSerye is the first branded content series that the fast-food giant introduced online. With a sitcom structure, this series features various storylines that get resolved with the help of special guest stars and Jollibee’s delicious and value-for-money offering, JolliSavers.

From iconic TV ads featuring some of the nation’s brightest celebrities, Jollibee has embraced the digital revolution with longer-form content that tells compelling, heartwarming stories. Its newest digital content arm, Jollibee Studios, was recently launched officially with the promise of innovative storytelling delivered online.

“Masayang maging bahagi ng Jollibee family,” Sarah said. “Through the years, masarap sa puso na marami akong napapasaya kasama si Jollibee. At ngayon naman na may Jollibee Studios na, kasali pa rin ang mga endorsers tulad namin ni Anne.”

“It’s such a wonderful experience to film a music-related episode with Sarah, who’s really my idol pagdating sa kantahan. But not only that, the whole crew and the cast made it super fun!” Anne said.

“We’re so happy that both Sarah and Anne have been very enthusiastic about our last episode for Season 2 and gave their 100% best,” said Cathleen Capati, Jollibee’s AVP for Flagship Category. “Guest stars like these two icons and beloved Jollibee family members truly empower us to create and bring entertaining, relatable digital content to Pinoy netizens.”

Sarap ng Payday, sa Presyong Everyday

At the heart of every 14/29 Petsa de Peligro JolliSerye episode is the strong friendship of the Happy Calendar House barkada and the undeniable value delivered by their favorite JolliSavers.

Every Filipinas have stories of struggles and success and celebrities and even influencers are not exempted from this. We all know that Filipinas are strong and beautiful women—but what does it really take to become one?

Filipinas live in a tiis-ganda culture where they go through lengths of unimaginable pain to look beautiful. Any sign of imperfection is tucked away, concealed. A scar is covered with makeup, a struggle is hidden with a smile when it should be embraced as a mark of triumph.

As a brand that has always worked to make women feel confident about their own version of beauty, Pantene Philippines started the #StrongerNow movement, recognizing that scars are not meant to be hidden—that they are to be worn with pride, especially that they are signs that a woman is braver, more beautiful, and stronger now because of the struggles she overcame.

Officially launched last September, the #StrongerNow campaign aims to inspire Filipinas to celebrate every scar, every sweat, every struggle that made them the kind of strong they are now. Also, in line with the campaign launch is the introduction of Anne Curtis-Smith and Gabbi Garcia, together with Pantene Philippines’ brand ambassadors, Anna Cay, Alodia Gosiengfiao, Chi and Gabs Gibbs, Dennise Lazaro, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Joyce Pring, and Say Tioco, in the forefront of the #StrongerNow movement. They are joined by Kevin Balot, the first Filipina transgender who competed and won Ms. International Queen 2012 and Stacy and Danah Gutierrez of Plump.ph who have been advocating for body positivity for almost a decade now. Each of them has had her own moment of struggle that made her the strong woman that she is and continues to be every day.

#StrongerNow is a collection of stories of struggles and triumphs of Filipinas in all walks of life—from the celebrities we have grown to love to the everyday women we see on our daily commute. It tells stories of real Filipinas whose strength and resilience further let their inner beauty shine. With this campaign, Pantene Philippines also launches the new Pantene Pro-Vitamin series, which features the first-ever vitamin shampoo. It is the answer to the problem of hair breakage due to washing daily. The Pantene Pro-Vitamin series strengthens hair against breakage with every wash, much like the women it supports—stronger with every damage.

ANNE CURTIS-SMITH: CRITICIZED THEN, ON TOP OF HER GAME NOW

We have seen Anne Curtis-Smith grow from a TV sweetheart to a daring movie star with the roles she has taken over the years—she has showcased her excellent entertaining skills through her sold-out concerts, too. What is not familiar to us, however, is the road she paved to break into the showbiz industry. She started as a foreign-looking little girl who could barely speak any Filipino, making it a struggle for her to land crucial speaking roles. There have been times before she skyrocketed to stardom, when she would struggle to lock in a project, making it seem like leaving Australia was not such a good idea after all. Still, Anne continued to clock in hours and fight for what she was passionate about—performing. “It was a slow climb to achieve my dream, but with patience and willingness to learn and speak Tagalog fluently, networks, directors, and producers took notice that I was improving in my craft. From then on, I have never stopped working, and now… I am ANNEstoppable”

GABBI GARCIA: SHY GIRL THEN, GLOBAL ENDORSER NOW

Gabbi Garcia is another woman the country has fallen in love with, especially for breaking through beauty standards with her morena skin that she now wears so proudly, encouraging more Filipinas to do the same. But all this confidence she has now actually started from a deep sense of insecurity, having to get through criticisms for being too “regular-looking.” She would receive negative comments so often because she did not fit people’s idea of what an actress should be. Gabbi shares, “I was so insecure with all the other girls, but I tried to hide that. Although it eventually came to a point where I started to question my worth. Am I worth other people’s time and attention?” She let go of her doubts as she learned to find strength in herself and in others, working towards inspiring the people that look up to her that regardless of your looks and what others think, it is important to stay true to yourself.

KEVIN BALOT

She is now part of the roster of the beautiful faces that represent Pantene Philippines, and she is the first-ever transgender Filipina to do so.  While Kevin Balot is a name that you will not expect to associate with a hair care brand, all the more you would not think that it is a name to enter to a beauty pageant. You would be in awe with the story of her journey to winning Miss International Queen 2012, also being the first transgender Filipina to garner the crown. As the only boy in the family, Kevin grew up with expectations from her father that she would turn out to be an engineer, but she had other plans for herself. She worked several jobs and joined beauty pageants to put herself through nursing school until Miss International Queen 2012 happened, and the rest was history. Now, she tirelessly works to continue to expand the knowledge of Filipinos about the most underrepresented segment of the LGBT, and advocacy she lives by. She has come out triumphant from her struggles and actually had a crown on her head for it, and now, she serves her cause to empower more women like her.

DANAH AND STACEY GUTIERREZ

The women behind Plump.ph and twin sisters, Danah and Stacey Gutierrez, were not always the body-positive figures we have grown to admire. They, too, had fought their own battles with body shaming, eating disorders, and insecurities that never seem to end. Since winning over their struggles, they are among the first women to spearhead the body positivity movement in the Philippines with their blog that they started in 2009. Plump.ph aims to challenge the society’s stereotypes on body image by promoting the idea that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

At the launch, the Pantene Philippines’ all-star lineup of brand ambassadors also share the stories that made them stronger now. Anna Cay went from vlogger then to app maker now; Alodia Gosiengfiao, hobbyist then to gaming idol now; Chi Gibbs from apprentice then to self-made boss now; Gabs Gibbs from multi-media student then to multi-faceted artist now; Dennise Lazaro from beginner then to national athlete now; Jasmine Curtis-Smith from new comer then to award-winning now; Joyce Pring from student VJ then to certified host now; Say Tioco from self-doubting then to trendsetter now; Kevin Balot from unwelcome then to celebrated now; and Danah and Stacey Gutierrez, insecure then to self-loving now.

Their stories of struggles and success as well as of every Filipina out there, run parallel to the benefit that Pantene Pro-Vitamin shampoo and 3 Minute Miracle conditioner give to women. You are stronger after every struggle, just like how your hair is made stronger with every wash.

Why Use the new Pantene Pro-Vitamin shampoo and 3 Minute Miracle conditioner?

The new Pantene Pro-Vitamin shampoo and 3 Minute Miracle conditioner are designed to put in more nutrients with every wash, strengthening hair with resilience to take on daily hair stress.
